Many men do not consistently show sexist behaviour or engage in violence. Moreover, these men are mistaken for others who act badly towards women. But all men need to think about how they can play an active role in bringing about change but also in encouraging other men to do so.
The engagement of men in gender justice movements could strengthen feminist efforts. For instance, participating in online actions to defend women's rights; supporting national and local campaigns against violence against women; raising awareness about sexism, such as in sports teams ; and educating youth in schools and universities. There are plenty of other ways !
So the principle that men cannot be feminists because this fight is not theirs is a mistake. It is by fighting against this violence that men can learn more and become more humanist or egalitarian. As is often said, instead of forbidding your daughters to go out, educate your boys the right way !
