Before he could go inside, he saw a young Feral being launched through the door and into the air. She placed her hands in the shape of bird wings and she floated to the ground. Unlike Kianna, whose glow was localized to her arms, this girl's whole body was illuminated.
"Alaina," Kianna called out, running to her. "What's going on?"
"Stay back!" Sabin yelled to the two of them as Turrent ran to the back of the home. As Sabin darted inside the dark home, Wade illuminated his surroundings. The kitchen was in shambles: the table and chairs had crashed against the walls and lay in pieces. If Sabin didn't know any better, he'd swear a tornado had hit this place.
Sabin turned to see Kianna and the girl standing there, Kianna pointing to the wall directly in front of him.
"It's dangerous," Sabin said.
"So am I," Kianna retorted. "I am not one of your damsels."
The girl, Alaina, ignored their spat. "High Elder can Illuse."
Sabin dropped his resistance. Everyone in Feral is Talented. I just see a wall.
"But why couldn't I see it before?" Kianna asked
Kianna's hands gave off that glow again and she clapped. Sabin felt a tremor, slightly losing his footing as a part of the wall imploded in his vision, replaced by a stairwell.
"Leena is down there with the Guan," Wade said to Sabin.
Turrent pushed his way into the room. "There's nothing here. Guan's piss, where'd that stairwell come from?
"No time," Sabin said. "Leena's down there."
Turrent darted down the stairs, too quickly for Sabin's eyes to follow. Sabin ran down after him, with Kianna and Alaina following behind.
Sabin saw Leena hands bound with a rope, hanging from the ceiling. This has got to be a trap. "Where is the Guan?" He asked Wade.
"I cannot sense him," Wade answered.
Sabin could hear grunts as Turrent battled with some assailant he couldn't see. Sabin jumped and pushed off the wall, in an attempt to cut Leena down.
"Wait!" Alaina said. She pushed her hands outward and a gust of wind Sabin in midair and guided him down softly.
"Why did you stop me?" he snapped.
Alaina's eyes darted around. She was looking for something, but Sabin couldn't tell what. He felt useless.
Aren't I the Serien?
Kianna clapped again and the image of Leena was replaced with a spiked netting. He could see Turrent now, fighting a chair.
"I'm sorry," Sabin said to Kianna and Alaina.
"What the hell?" Turrent cursed. "There were ten men just a second ago."
Kianna clinched her fists. "All illusions, meant to tire or kill the both of you." Her eyes for flitting around as well.
"There!" Alaina screamed.
The wind picked up around them, causing Sabin to readjust his footing.
She is the Serien of Wind? I was sure Kianna was the Serien. Then what was that pull to her?
"Well done," a deep voice said.
Alaina's wind died down in response. She must have done that to dispel the illusion.
Sabin tried to focus his eyes beyond Wade's illumination. A man in a hooded black cloak trailed around the edge of the room. Glowing glyphs lay on the ground in front of him. As he looked down, he could see that he was standing on a dull one. It still pulsed, but it was a slow, dying pulse from a dimmed symbol.
