Sabin almost threw his sword to the ground, but caught himself before he could complete the action. Ridiculous. Seriens and talking swords? He could feel the hairs on the back his neck, fear combined with the sheer absurdity of the situation creating an odd feeling. He could not deny Darren's words, the pull was there. But this? This is too much.
"Acceptance is the correct action."
"I haven't accepted anything." Sabin took a deep breath to control his hand. "How do I find the other Seriens? If you are what you say you are, you should know."
"I will track them. Searching.... They are all in Acadia. Jabez, Covica, Feral, and here in Rosera. The Rosera Serien is close. Remember that."
"Close. How close?" he asked Wade. Before he could finish his follow up, he saw blue hair, strolling down the road as if she didn't have a care in the world. First, I deal with Cara. Next, the talking sword.
He ran towards her, hoping to catch her unaware, but something must have tipped her off. She sprinted, ducking through stands and clearing people as if they were minor rocks on the ground. Her moves were so fluid. She never mistimed a landing or crashing into another person. In any other circumstance Sabin would be impressed with her skill. However, seeing as how Sabin did not fare so well it only served to irritate him.
"Move!" Sabin shouted at a man in front of him as he chased her. No one heeded his voice. He found the gaps between the crowds closing and he had to stop several times or he would have barreled through an elderly person or a child. He found himself lagging further and further behind. This was her element, and there was no way he would catch her.
Sabin lost her in the crowd and put his hands on his thighs to catch his breath. Think of something. He caught a break as he looked up, catching a glimpse could see the blue hair bobbing in the crowd and darting to the right. Her distinctiveness would be her downfall.
He ducked into the alley to his right, dodging an old woman carrying a pile of cloth in her arms. This path was unfamiliar to him, as was most of Rosera, but if he could just get another look...Over there! She was sauntering now, confident that she'd lost him in the crowd. And she was coming his way.
He waited, hoping she didn't change her direction. If he lost her this time, there was no way she'd be so careless again. He ducked, watching as she passed his location. He sprang into action, grabbing her from behind and dragging her into the alley, ignoring her protest.
"Hey, you. How are things going?" the thief asked nonchalantly as she hadn't just run from him two minutes ago. She was dressed in a pair of navy tights riddled with holes and a plain white blouse stained with grime and soot. The left side of her face was still bruised from the brute's assault.
"Don't play dumb," Sabin said angrily. "I can't believe what you did to me after I helped you. I saved your life, that guy would have killed you. Wait. You robbed him too didn't you?"
"I'm so sorry." Cara said, beginning to cry. "I wouldn't have done it, but I needed the money."
"Sorry, but this act isn't fooling me this time." Sabin snapped. "What gives you the right?"
"No one asked for your help," Cara snapped, turning the tears off instantly. "I usually only steal from certain people, but I... It's that you seemed like you could spare it."
"And I'm supposed to believe you now?"
"She is correct." Wade said.
"And how do you know?" Sabin snapped.
