Leena blasted at the blur speeding around her.

"Stay still!"

Despite his bulk, Berius was fast. His weapon sparked against the earth every few seconds.

"I'll stop if you give me a kiss," he said. His voice echoed around her.

Leena turned her head back and forth, trying to get a solid location. "Pucker up, big man." Another blast missed.

"It is if we are soul-" He stopped, staring behind her. "Sire!"

She blasted him in the chest, sending his body through the air and rolling across the ground. Sakima was barreled a soldier and Turrent removed his sword from a man's chest.

She turned to Sabin's duel. Ira, Kianna and Alaina were nowhere to be found. Sabin wobbled on his feet, looking as though a stiff breeze would push him over.

Where is everyone?

Yulan punched forward with his right hand and his spear shot in Sabin's direction. She tossed an ice lance in its trajectory, hoping to deflect it.

It sizzled and evaporated, yards away from Yulan's spear.

Oh, you horse fucker.

Yuan's spear had worse luck. As made it into Sabin's radius, it folded into a useless ball.

A bright light blinded her. She blinked the spots away from her vision in time to Sabin punch Yulan in the chest. A loud boom rippled through the air and his hand exited Yulan's back. He collapsed on Sabin's arm and shot into the sky, becoming a speck in her vision.

Sabin turned and stumbled to her. He swayed to each side, every step looking like the one that would tip him over.

Where the crap is everyone?

She ran to him, unsure of how she could help.

"Sabin!" she called. "Are you okay?"

Stupid question, Leena. Of course he isn't okay.

Sabin's head rose. The whole of his eyes swirled yellow and red and he bled from the eyes.

Shit! Where is Alaina? Where is-

"Kianna," Sabin said, finishing her thought.

Maybe it was the way he said it, or the twitch in a muscle, but Leena got her hands up in the position to block a punch. And it was not a moment too soon.

She felt her right wrist crack as Sabin's fist made contact, sending her flying towards the fray. The pain didn't register until her arms collided with the ground. She cried out loud enough for Schewa himself to hear.

Turrent kneeled and lifted her wrist. "What happened?"

She made her arm go wavy in hopes of relieving the pain. It went jellyfish around the broken bone, but nothing else.

She jerked her head towards Sabin.

Turrent grimaced and tried to stand, but she clasped her good hand around his wrist.

"Don't."

"What?"

"I know that look."

Turrent unclenched his fists. "You have a plan?"

You're asking me?

"What's happening?"

"The Yuans went after Sabin. We have to help him."
