Marilla went downstairs to find Matthew smoking on his chair.
,,The Blythe's are all the same," she chuckled.
,,You saw him too?" Matthew asked.
,,You saw him too?" Marilla raised an eyebrow, surprised.
,,Maybe," Matthew just replied.
,,I remember John Blythe sneaking into my room," Marilla smiled at the memory. So did Matthew. He liked John when they were young. He was funny and charming and when they were alone, he didn't mind speaking at all and let young Matthew just listen. He was also similar to Anne in this.

,,Did you make all this up just now?" Gilbert asked when he snuck back in, impressed.
,,Pretty much," Anne chuckled. ,,We have to talk quieter." Gilbert nodded in agreement and they sat on Anne's bed.
,,So? What would you do if i wasn't there and you were?" Anne established on their previous conversation.
,,First tell me how did the situation look like so i know what I'm working with." Anne described it all to the smallest details.
,,Okay..." Gilbert thought about it. ,,Got it. So. I would take the biggest pieces of wood i could find and build like a slide from the hole to the window, so the water would just flow outside again. There are nails and a hammer in the back and if I'm not wrong, there should still be some ceramic clay left from when we had the crafting day before Christmas. I would hammer the wood together, just simply and quickly. Then i'd fill the gaps with clay, put it under the hole and aim it from the window so the water would flow away. I would probably support it with desks or benches so it doesn't move and then i guess close the rest of the hole with blankets. I can imagine that would work, but i can't see it in front of me, so i can't say it on 100%," Gilbert smiled.
,,Hmm, interesting... But if there were large pieces of wood and nails and hammer, why wouldn't you just hammer the wood so it would cover the hole?"
,,Such weak nails wouldn't be able to hold the pressure of the rain if it was as strong as you say."
,,What if you did it from the outside?"
,,There isn't a ladder, if i remember correctly, it was broken a month ago and you said Billy wasn't there. He is possibly the only one who would be able to lift me up all the way to the roof."
,,What if you lifted someone else up and they would cover the hole?"
,,You told me, that everyone was freaking out, so if i wanted to lift someone up there, they wouldn't be able to fix it. And the only sensible two were Moody and Charlie. No offense to them, but you haven't seen them work," Gilbert laughed.
,,Okay, that makes sense. But i don't think you would be able to build a slide, fill the gaps up and support it with desks in such a short time. That would turn out pretty unstable i think," Anne shrugged her shoulders.
,,Unstable? You literally covered a hole with blankets and rocks. If the storm lasted just a little longer, there would probably be too much pressure, and the blanket would loosen up, taking the rocks along."
