A/N: This was requested by someone I can't remember sorry :P

Peter shivered, cold air from the aircon above him suddenly making his hairs on his arms stand on end as he got goosebumps. He was sitting in the living room, reading a book with Tony, Steve and Nat also sitting nearby. Since had been living here, at least one of the Avengers was around at all times, as if they were worried that if they left him alone, he would fall apart or something. The book in his hands reminded him of sitting at the kitchen table back at the house he had lived in with Aunt May. He would read whilst she cooked and more often then not, music would be playing, his aunt singing along. He shook his head to try rid himself of those thoughts, rubbed his arms to return some warmth to them and pulled the blanket further over him. No. Stop.

Part of the reason he had moved to live in the Avenger's Tower since the 'incident', as everyone called it, was to escape the memories of that place and of course... of her. Why was it so hard to do just that? It was as if everything he did was a reminder that May wasn't there to do it with him. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't forget, it was impossible. Sometimes he was momentarily distracted by Clint telling him a joke or Bruce teaching him something in the lab, he almost felt happy but then afterwards he would be overwhelmed with guilt. Because how could he ever be happy in a world without May? He wasn't meant to feel happy at all. He wasn't allowed to. If he felt happy it was like saying she hadn't existed, like he was just forgetting everything she had been to him.

Blinking away the tears that had suddenly come to his eyes, Peter glanced up from his book to see Tony, Steve and Nat watching him with looks of concern. Why was he crying over something like this? He was reminded of May everywhere he went. If he teared up every time that happened... He tried to quickly clean his face but they had already seen.

"You know, if your book is making you that sad, you don't have to read it." Tony joked but he sounded worried.

Peter tried to fake a smile, "Yeah, I'm okay. My book's just really sad, my favourite character died." He turned the cover away from them and hoped that none of them had noticed before that he was reading a science textbook. He didn't want to burden them with what he was feeling, they already had enough to concentrate on. They were the Avengers for goodness sake, he couldn't take up their time, making them worry about him.

Steve stood up, walked over to him and held his arms open for a hug. He wasn't buying the act, it must be because of his special Mum senses. He didn't say anything though, knowing that Peter wouldn't want to talk about it even if he pressed. Instead, he offered silent support and Peter leant into the hug. It was comforting to have strong arms around him. "Thanks, Mum."

Maybe he didn't need to forget, he just needed to live on.
