Lillian lead Link and Mari up a spiraling staircase that wrapped a large tree. At the top, they were greeted by a small, white hut.

"Please, come in." Lillian invited, drawing back the curtain door.

Link hesitated before cautiously ducking through the doorway. Inside was fairly simple, with a small desk to the left, and a pedestal-like stand against the far wall.

Lillian walked over to the pedestal. Atop it lay a feather. Quite a normal looking feather at that; not big, not small, no notable colors, just black, with white in the middle. It looked like the type people would make into a pen.

But Lillian picked it up carefully, with a look of respect on her face. She turned towards Link, and held it up gently. "This is called the Midor Feather. It's a magical tool of great potential."

Link took a few steps forward to inspect the object in her hand. "Potential, you say?"

"It just looks like an ordinary feather to me!" Mari stated in awe. "What can it do?"

"It is a tool used for magic spells," Lillian explained, "It's like an amplifier. It takes normal spells, and concentrates them. It can even control the volume of which each individual spell works on."

     "Like what?"

"Well, for instance, a fire spell. The feather will allow you to not only control the direction of the spell, but increase or decrease the temperature."

"That sounds really handy," Link said, "Is it foreign?"

Lillian shook her head. "Yes and no. You see, long before I came to these woods, they say a traveler came from beyond the forest. It's fairly rare for outsiders to brave these enchanted lands, and even rarer for them to survive the trip. So of course, the forest folk took note of him. He was a kind, and knowledgeable man. During his stay, he invented this feather. Then he departed. He was known by the name of Midor, and so they named his creation after him."

"Wow!" Mari sighed dreamily, "That guy must have traveled the world to know so much, enough to invent something so cool! I wish I could do that..."

"Yeah," Link sighed in agreement. Then he looked back up at Lillian. "Are you sure I can have it?"

Lillian nodded, and held it out for him to take. "It's yours now. It's the least I can do to thank you for rescuing my dear children. Take it respectfully."

Link smiled gratefully, and humbly took the feather. He was unsure where to keep it, looking around his person, afraid his cramped pouch would damage it. Lillian gently motioned for him to stop, then took the feather, and tucked it's quill into the crown of his hat, right above his ear.

"Now, let's get you prepared for your trip," She said smiling.

Link felt a little silly, having her treat him like a kid, but her motherly aura was comforting. He followed her out of the hut, and back down to where the rest of the village was still celebrating.

A boy ran up to them upon their reappearance. "Mother! We finished! Come and see!"

"That was fast, Devley," Lillian praised softly, as she followed the boy, who pulled her along by the hand like a tugboat. She waved Link and Mari along.

They were led to the forest floor, to the middle of the village, beside a small pond, where Epona stood, squeaky clean, geared up, and surrounded by a handful of children.
