Link held his breath for a moment. "A... puppet, princess?" He asked, trying to grasp what she was saying.
"Yes." Zelda confirmed. "I believe there is an evil force behind my brother, manipulating him somehow. Ever since my father died three years ago, Regis hasn't been the same. A dark aura looms over him, and I can't speak to him freely anymore."
Link could see her sadness over her brother. "Do you know who these dark forces are, your majesty?" He asked softly.
Zelda looked up, an urgency in her eyes. "I haven't met them, no. But two nights ago, I had a vision in my dreams. I stood before the castle, and an ominous fog surrounded me. I lit a flame charm to see, but when I did, a blue bird hovered in front of me. It looked as though it was desperately trying to tell me something, but then the fog thickened, and engulfed the bird... and..." Her voice trailed off.
Of course, it was common knowledge that the princess had prophetic dreams, so this couldn't have just been a common nightmare.
The urgency returned to Zelda's voice, as she said, "Link! The bird in my dream was my brother! I imagine what the dark force is trying to accomplish. If my brother is crowned king, he will inherit the Regal Flame!" She exclaimed.
"The Regal Flame?" Link asked, surprised. "I thought that was just a myth!"
Zelda shook her head. "No, its very real. Its actually a mystic aura that looks like a flame, but its pure power. In ancient times, when the ruler of Hyrule held the flame, and the Hero wielded the Legendary blade, together, they had the power to open the way to the sacred Triforce, wether it be in the Sacred Realm, or within the hearts of the chosen individuals."
Link double checked. "Well, then the evil ones would hit a dead end, because they wouldn't be able to get their hands on that Sword, would they?"
The princess sighed. "Yes, that is true, but even now, I can't feel the blessed spirit of Evil's Bane that once pulsed throughout the land. Without it's spirit, any dark soul would be capable of using the blade for evil. Which is why I need your help, Link!" She urged. "I saw you in the match today, and I knew you were the only one who could! Please help me!"
Link was alarmed by Zelda's pleading. "Alright," He said."But what exactly can I do to help?"
Zelda turned away, and gently pulled a flower from a bush, choosing her words carefully.
Finally, she looked up, and said,"The sword is powerless to evil, but they still haven't found it, just cut off its power source. Link, please find it before they do, and return its power."
For a moment, he let these words sink in. "I... have to find such a legendary weapon? And upgrade it?" Link asked. "How do I do that?"
Zelda gave Link a reassuring look. "Don't worry. Here's my plan."
