FAMILY AFFAIRS

After what happened back at Jade Wolf, me and Izzy went back to report to our mother while the others went on to help the new alpha.

I was currently in my room, facing the window.

"Mom's in a rare form today" Izzy said, barging into my room.

"She's been different since she got back from Idris" I said and turned myself to look at her.

"If you say so. Same old judgemental Mom with me" she inhaled before speaking up again."Have you spoken to Jace yet?"

"He can calk me when he's done chasing the little girl and---" I was cut of when Izzy interrupted me.

"Alec, you need to call Jace." she said and looked at me with her eyes pleading.

"No welcome home for the old man?" We looked at the door and saw dad with Max standing at his side.

"Max!" I kneeled down as he ran towards me and hugged me.

"Daddy!" Izzy greeted dad and hugged him.

"What are you doing back so soon?" I happily asked him."Got in trouble in Mumbai" he admitted sheepishly.

"Oh, what'd you do?" I asked him and smirked.

"Nothing" he said, making me raise my eyebrows at him.

"He started a fire with his stele during Rune studies" dad informed us, as he looked at Max and shooked his head.

Izzy chuckled and walked over to hug him."Max"

"I told you I was hungry" the young boy defended himself and looked back at me."I was trying to draw the nourishment rune"

I chuckled upon hearing his explanation."Those two runes look nothing alike Max" I teased.

Max rolled his eyes slightly."Well they do to me"

"Max" dad called getting Max's attention."Go up to your room. Open the grey book and look up the extinguish rune" he ordered, pointing in the general direction of Max's room.

"Mom said Lana is here. I want her to help me study" Max said with a hopeful look in her eyes.

"No Max. You study on your own" dad said in a strict voice. Max sighed and did as he was told.

When Max got out. Dad crossed his arms on his chest and began speaking with authority.

"Where is Clary Fairchild? Your mother told me she was missing." he asked.

I crossed my own arms before I replied."She's not missing, we know where she is. She's with Jace and Alana."

"We can't have that girl out of institute control, the entire Shadow World is looking for her" he scoffed and turned his back on us.

"It's security risk. Get the three of them back here now" he said before storming off the room.

I just sighed before grabbing my cellphone from the table and dialled Jace's number before running out.

"You need to get back to the institute"  I said as I was walking down the hallway.

"You need to help me first"

"No I'm not messing around" I scoffed.

"Me either. I need your help" he said in a serious tone.
