"You know what? I'd rather have this happen..." Izzy said as Alec finished explaining the plan to her."What kind of people sacrifice justice for the law?" she scoffed.

"That's very noble, Izzy, but the high roads not gonna look so great when your running for you life from a pack of demons with no shadowhunter powers to protect you"

"Jocelyn lived as a mundane" Izzy spat.

"Jocelyn had her runes and her weapons" Alec countered.

She just sighed and sat on the couch in silence.

"You can't just let them convict you. You need an advocate"

"Yeah, and who would that be?"

Alec thought for a second.

"I could go ask Magnus"

"Would he do it?" Izzy asked.

"I think so, I'm sure he wouldn't mind" Alec replied.

Izzy thought for a second then sighed. Magnus was her last chance.

"Fine" she said.

~ MORNING ~

I woke up as the bright light came from outside my window. I sat up and did a few stretches before taking a quick bath and dressing up for the trial.

A few minutes later, Lydia entered the door with a worried look on her face.

"Inquisitor Herondale has arrived." she said in a worried tone.

"I guess we have to go now" she nodded as we went out the door.

"It will be fine. Just stay by my side" she said.

It was time for the trial to begin. I was seated beside Lydia as I watched Magnus who is surprisingly Izzy's attorney.

"Will I survive if I touch it?" Magnus asked.

"If you tell the truth" the Inquisitor shrugged.

"By the power of this sword, do you swear to defend your client with integrity and honesty?" A silent brother asked him, as he cautiously lifted his hand and placed it above the soul sword.

"No argument from me on that" Magnus said, before taking his hand off.

"Make your case, warlock" Inquisitor Herondale stated.

"My case is simple. It is true that Isabelle Lightwood acted against the orders of the clave by trying to free that seelie, Meliorn. But she did not act against the interest of the clave. Preventing the forced questioning and possible death of a Seelie may have saved the accords"Magnus began to explain.

"We are not here to speculate what might have happened if the defendant hadn't interfered"

"You mean, what might have happened if she didn't stop the silent brothers from torturing a seelie?" Magnus said, raising a brow.

"I await a valid argument. Do you have one?" the Inquisitor asked, irritated that Magnus is wasting her precious time.

"What you really want is the Mortal Cup. My client doesn't have it, but I assume you already have it" Magnus said as he took a quick glance at me before looking back at Imogen.
