AKARI AND NEZUKO laughed and talked while holding Rokuta.
Akari's parents were close friends of the Kamados but when her parents died mysteriously when she was 3, Kie and Tanjuro took her in.
All the other children saw her as a sister except Tanjiro. They were lovers. They never showed affection in front of people but they loved each other.
"Tanjiro! Your face is all covered in soot. Let me clean you up." Kie or their mother called out. "You know you really don't have to go out with all this snow, it could be dangerous."
"I want everyone to have a good New Years celebration, where everyone can eat as much as they want. So i'll sell all the charcoal I can." Tanjiro smiled.
"How thoughtful.." Their mother wiped his face.
"Oni-chan! Are you going to town again?" Shigeru asked.
"I wanna come!" Hanako beamed.
"No you're not. You know you can't walk as fast as Tanjiro." Their mother explained.
"Come on oka-san! Please?" The kids asked.
"Not today. He's not gonna be able to use the cart today which means he can't give you a ride when you get tired." The mom walked over to them.
The two kids frowned.
"Oni-chan!" Shigeru said while running up to hug him.
"Please let me come with you! I promise i'll help out!" Hanako asked.
"That's very generous Hanako," He patted her head as she smiled. "But no you're staying home today."
She frowned.
He knelt down, "Sorry Shigeru, you are too. But i'll bring back goodies okay?" Tanjiro said.
"Promise?!" Shigeru asked happily.
"Of course. And Hanako, I'll read for you when I get home later."
"Okay!"
"Thank you for doing this Tanjiro." Their mother said.
"Of course. Now it's time for me to head out. Hey Takeo, do me a favor when I'm out. Chop as much wood as you can." Tanjiro requested.
