Crabbe and McGonigal

My body feels like lead. Rocks and gravel are covering me everywhere below my torso. Thankfully my hands are free. I stand up with great difficulty. My ears are ringing loudly and my stomach is churning from being hurtled into the air.

I still can't hear a single thing. I look around to see Percy on top of his brother.He is clearly screaming Fred's name, but to me it's just a bunch of mouth movements.

I look slightly to the right of Percy and see Fred's body, stiff and lifeless. I turn away from it, not wanting to see the horrible sight.

People are still running; but most have found their friends amongst the ruble, and are helping them get out of it. I search for Draco, Crabbe, and Goyal, but a dust cloud is preventing me from seeing them.

I look around and start to search for Millicent. Millicent is on her back underneath a big boulder. The people around me have started to recover, and some fights have already been resumed.

I limp towards Millicent, and bend down to lift the rock. She sits up to help me, and we heave it off of her with great difficulty. I help her to her feet, and she leans on me. I think her leg is broken because of the boulder.

She says something, but my ears are still ringing. I gesture towards my ears and she seems to know what's wrong. She puts her hands on both of my shoulders. The gesture tells me to stay still, so I do.

She takes her hands and slaps my ears. Pain shoots through them, and for a moment the ringing gets louder, then it subsides and I start to hear everything around me; students screaming for friends, people casting spells, spells hitting walls, and heavy rocks being lifted slightly.

"Thanks"

Millicent smiles at me and says:

"No problem, Draco and Goyal are over there"

She points to a wall on the opposite end of the hall. I look through some battling students and Death Eaters; and see Draco and Goyal leaning against the wall.

We draw our wands and run into the battle. We make it to Draco and Goyal without having to dodge too many spells.

Draco shoots up from his spot on the floor, and hugs me. He is shaking all over, and leaning on me. I know something is wrong. I stroke his hair and close my eyes.

Millicent looks around and asks Goyal,

"Where's Crabbe, is he okay"

Draco breaks the hug and walks over to Millicent. He says;

"Crabbe has died, he didn't make it"

His voice is emotionless, he is blocking out the pain within it. Millicent breaks down. She slumps against the wall, shaking. I rush to her and put an arm around her. She cries into my body.

Draco casts a shielding charm around us all, to make sure we don't get hit. I catch Goyal crying silently. We meet each other's gaze, and he quickly looks away, wiping his tears away on his sleeve.

Millicent parts from my hug abruptly and stands up. Alarmed, I stand up with her. Millicent points to a whole in the wall.

Standing there are Professor Flitwick, Professor Tewalney (who's arms are full of orbs that she throws at Death Eaters), and Professor McGonigal (who's hair is down, wand is out, and has a look of anger on her face as she watches students getting harmed).

We all exchange looks. Draco lifts the shield charm, and we run through the battle towards the teachers. We dodge spell after spell. Millicent is helped by Goyal due to her injured leg.

Professor McGonigal raises her wand as we approach, and aims it at us. Flitwick puts a hand on her arm and stops her from firing a spell at us. Millicent, Goyal, and Draco all look too scared to speak, so I do it.

"Professor McGonigal, we are fighting on your side. Please don't hurt any of the Slytherins"

She looks at us, clearly skeptical and says;

"Didn't you just try and kill Potter"

Draco responds

"Not really, we wanted him to come with us to safety, not actually kill him. We knew he wouldn't believe us so we told him that we were going to report him to You-Know-Who".

Flitwick chimes in and says:

"Mrs. Parkinson risked her life for me, and hurt her own mother. The least I can do is not harm any Slytherin students".

This statement seems to have worked on McGonigal, and she nods saying

"I will tell whoever I can to not harm you guys, but you do not try to bring Potter to safety again".

We all nod, and she smiles slightly. Flitwick darts past us and starts to fight a death eater. Professor Tawlany runs to join Flitwick. McGonigal looks down at us and says:

"Go away from here. There is a lot of damage, and you should fight in the dungeon, you guys know it better. Draco, if you have to choose a side, choose wisely. And... I'm sorry for your loss".

She leaves and joins the battle. We go to the staircase and descend to the dungeons.
