Filch's Punishment

I follow Filch all the way down to the dungeon. Draco and I turn to go into the Slytherin common room, but Filch stops us. Draco and I exchange confused looks, but Filch seems to be getting happier every second (a very bad sign). Draco seems to be getting annoyed by the second (he doesn't like not knowing what's happening). Before I can stop Draco from speaking up, he says...

"The common room is this way; you idiot"

I groan at Draco calling Filch an 'idiot'. Filch scowls down at Draco, but only shakes his head, and points further down into the passage, indicating that we are going down that way. My heart drops,I have never been that far down the passage before, and I strongly dislike the fact that we are going down the passage with Filch.

Millicent makes her way up, to the front of the cue. She almost falls while she's doing it, and I grab her before she hits the floor. Millicent gains her balance, opens her mouth, and asks...

"Why in the name of Merlin will we go down that hall with you?"

There is a murmur of agreement towards the question, because everyone is thinking the same exact question. Filch gives Millicent a sour look, and answers the question with a question of his own...

"Why in the name of Merlin would you try to disobey a direct superior"

I look at Millicent, expecting her to simply shut up and follow Filch, but she doesn't; instead she gives Filch a cold, hard look, and shoots back...

"Your not a direct superior, your a glorified maid"

The Slytherins behind me laugh coldly at her roast. I join in, and clap her on the back, in appreciation towards the joke. Filch looks at her with murder in his eyes; and Millicent backs up further into the crowed. I don't know how she can remain so calm, if Filch gave me that look; I would be running as fast as possible in the opposite direction.

Filch's glare intensifies, and all of my fellow Slytherins stop laughing immediately. We all are on thin ice, and we can tell. Filch walks further down the deep passageway, and we all follow without hesitation. We all know that Filch's ideal punishment is whipping a student; then hang them upside down by the ankles, and none of us need another scar from a teacher.

Filch pauses halfway down the passage, he looks at us, and indicates for us to go in front of him. We immediately push past him, and keep walking down the passage. We walk all the way down the passage, our feet dragging from a long and eventful day. When we reach the end, there is a solid wall, blocking us from going any further.

We all turn around, and I find that I am now in the back of the crowd due to the change in direction. Draco grabs my hand and squeezes it. I blush again, and I feel the familiar swoop in my stomach. To my surprise Draco takes a step forward, his hand outstretched behind him to keep holding mine. Draco looks at Filch, and a small smirk starts to form on his face.

"We went the wrong way. You really are just a glorified maid."

Crabbe and Goyal immediately laugh, but I am pretty sure that they didn't find the insult funny at all. Filch lets out a deadly smile, and starts to back away from us. Millicent quickly bends over and whispers to me:

"He looks like a cereal killer"

I give out a nervous laugh, but the situation is nothing less than terrifying. Filch starts to back away quicker, and a Slytherin in the front makes to follow him. Filch puts out his hand to indicate them to stop moving, they do so and keep quiet.

The further Filch backs away from us, the more his smile starts to spread. Crabbe is getting visibly more impatient and he starts to crack his knuckles. Millicent gives him an admiring look, and smiles at him.

Filch takes five more steps; backwards and a sudden burst of light illuminates from Blaze Zabinie's wand. Blaze points it at Filch, and the light glows upon him. Filch stops mid-step, looking guilty at us. Blaze moves his wand around the general area in which Filch stands.

I squint in that direction and I see a lever on the wall. I immediately look up to the ceiling and see the bottom of a cell door. My heart stops for half a second, all of the other Slytherins seem to have realized what is about to happen.

"NO"

Millicent yells it from next to me, and the crowd of Slytherins start to move forward. Filch lunges towards the lever, and hits it. A giant, heavy door slams down in front of us, separating us from Filch.

A few kids start to bang on the cell's bars, but Filch just walks away, leaving us to rot in the cell.
