Draco and I reach the landing. The fourth floor is completely deserted. I pull on Draco's hand, and lead him to the suit of armor. I drop Draco's hand and open up the suit.
My mother is there. She falls into my arms, still completely unconscious. Draco helps me pick her up. Wordlessly, we carry her down to The Great Hall.
When we enter the hall, people are everywhere. There are multiple students in groups, there are people injured slumped against the wall (waiting for Madam Pomfry), there are kids and adults alike walking around looking for loved ones, and there are people lying on the ground across from the sick... the dead.
Draco and I hurry through the hall, and put my mother next to the rest of the injured. Some people look at my mum with skepticism on their faces, due to the fact that she is still wearing death eater's clothes.
It never occurred to me until now, that Madam Pomfry might not help her because she is a death eater. I turn to Draco, and tell him this. He looks at me then says:
"They have to help, if they don't she could die. Madam Pomfry is nice, she helped me when my arm got ripped because of that stupid Hippogryff, she will help your mother too".
I nod, but I'm still not entirely convinced. I look down at my mother. It was I who hurt her like this, if she dies it would be all my fault.
Madam Pomfry bustles over to us. She peers down at my mother, and says:
"Mrs. Bulstrode and Mr. Goyal told us two"- she gestures at us- "are fighting for Hogwarts. Usually I wouldn't believe this, but Professor McGonigal says it's true. If you two are hurt, I can help. However, I am afraid that your mother isn't on our side. So I don't know what to do now".
I look at her and say:
"I know she's a Death Eater, but please help her, she's all I have left. I don't want her to join the dead. She needs your help, you're the best nurse there is".
Madam Pomfry nods , and bends over my mother to address her wounds. Relief floods through me. Thank God that my mother might be okay. Draco smiles at me, and I blush deeply. Draco takes my hand and says:
"Your mother isn't going to wake anytime soon, let's find Goyal and Millicent, and try to find the rest of the Slytherins. Last I checked there were 15 of them, but looking around this hall I only see 6, so I think it's best if we regroup. But we should still find Millicent and Goyal".
I nod, and he leads me through the crowd of people. We make our way through the hall, and bump into Millicent and Goyal.
All four of us look slightly surprised, but we quickly move out of the way of the crowd and into a corner of the hall. I speak first:
"Did you two tell everyone we are on their side?"- Millicent and Goyal nod, I continue- "okay, we need to find the other Slytherins. How many are left?"
Millicent answers: "only a few. There are only six left"- she points to the group of Slytherins I saw earlier. "Those are the last six, but they all want to leave, so it will just be us".
After Millicent says this, the six kids move out of the hall, and turn to the direction of the front door. I can't blame them. This battle is crazy and super dangerous.
We spend a long time in the hall. Draco and I search through the dead to see if we know anyone. Thankfully, the only person I know is Professor Lupin, but Draco's eyes aren't on Lupin.
He looks down at the woman Lupin is lying next to, her hair is pink, and her eyes are open. Draco bends down and moves his hand to touch her stomach. I don't understand this until he mutters:
"So Nymphadora had her baby then. That's good, at least the cub isn't dead".
I don't understand what he's saying other than the fact that the woman must have been pregnant. Draco stands up, and we turn to leave the body's.
The second we turn around, a voice issues from the walls. A high, cool, voice. The voice of Lord Voldemort telling us Harry Potter is dead.
