Andre places one of my hands on his shoulder and the other in his. He lifts me up by the waist using only his free hand, placing my feet on his. My dress covers our feet.He moves us around slowly. I help him by trying to lift my weight a little every time we move. Our eyes meet as we dance in unison. I slightly giggle. He giggles too.
"Having fun?" He asks. "Dancing without having to use my feet? Yeah, I am." I answer. He swiftly spins me in the air and places me right back on his feet.
My hands position themselves on his shoulders. I look down at our feet that aren't visible and back up only to find Andre fondly staring at me. I smile at him. Within minutes we're almost galloping around the dance floor.
Everyone moves in a pattern. As we slow back to pace, Andre places his forehead against mine. He spins me in the air as if I were as light as a whisper.
I close my eyes for a second, my mind putting us alone in the room. I place a hand behind his neck as he proudly moves us easily.
He places his hands on the lower of my back and bends me over using his body, spinning me countless times.
I rise back up. This time his blue eyes sink into my brown ones. Our lips and noses not far from touching. Slowly, the room starts to fall back into place.
He places my feet back onto the ground. He leads me using his hands as I dance with my own feet. I gently turn around, my back against his chest.
I close my eyes, savoring the sweet moment. Andre spreads out one of my arms, moving us along the floor. I believe it's starting to look like I know what I'm doing. "This feels amazing." I whisper.
Andre turns me around. "Not as amazing as you are." His hands move around my waist, carrying me into a small circle, my dress wrapping us.
We pause as he places my feet back on the ground, our hands intertwining. He lightly spins me around. "Thank you." The crowd claps as the song comes to an end.
Only then do I notice that we had the floor to ourselves.
Thando smiles brightly from the kitchen door. I guess this is the attention she was speaking about. Andre places a kiss on my hand and leads us towards his sister.
"When did you learn to dance?" Harley asks me. "About a minute ago. I still need some practice though." I answer, chuckling. Harley smiles at both of us. "But not bad for a first-timer."
"Could I borrow Andre for a second?" She asks me. I nod. She pulls him to the side.
Andre's P.O.V.
Harley pulls me to the side. She looks at me, her expression telling me something is on her mind. "What's wrong?" I ask."I don't think this is a good idea." She says to me. I frown. "What's not-" "You and Sydney." She cuts.
I sigh. "It's mum's plan. Something is bound to go wrong. Andre, don't dance to her tune. Eventually it's going to get too fast for your feet to keep up to. You know how it ends." Harley says.
I place a hand on my sister's shoulder. "You need to stop worrying too much. I'm not doing this for her." Harley chuckles. "What? You're doing it for you? For Sydney?" She questions, her anger rising.
I remain silent. She scoffs. "I think living with her has made you really stupid and ignorant. More than before. At least Dad has come to his senses."
I frown. "That isn't fair. You stayed with Daniel knowing very well that he WAS entertaining mum, making it seem like she manipulated him. He's a man for goodness sake. And you have the decency to call me stupid."
Harley slaps me across the face. The pain shoots right to my eye. She huffs and walks off.
I look up and Harley is rushing up the staircase. Daniel hurriedly follows after her.
Sydney almost runs towards me. "Are you okay?" She asks. I take a seat, placing my head in my hands. I definitely crossed a line. But she pushed me.
My parents begin to ask me questions which I don't give answers to. All I can think about right now are the words I've spat out to my sister.
