The next day soon arrived, and you woke up early. Luckily for you, nobody was watching you sleep, so you didn't have to shoot anybody just yet. That didn't mean you weren't reluctant to injure anybody. After getting up, and waking up your horse, you mounted Penny, and began to ride over to the starting line. Hearing two voices chattering away like annoying birds in the morning, you snapped your head towards the direction of the voices, and you immediately recognized Johnny, as well as another person. You noticed Johnny was being dragged around by his horse, and raised an eyebrow, before turning your head to look at the other person.
You definitely recognized the other guy from how you and Johnny met. He was the one who had gotten into a scuffle with that thief while you were trying to budge past the crowd. He appeared to be watching Johnny closely, as the two other men turned to ask the male something. You didn't really care too much to listen in, so you merely continued to ride away, until you heard someone call out to you. "Hey! You, over there! Aren't you going to help the guy over here? You can't just leave him lik-" You swiftly cut him off with an annoyed tone. "No. I'm not going to help him." You stated in a harsh tone, catching the attention of the blonde male with the green eyes. "W-Why not? He could get injured!" The person demanded. You glared down at the person, and continued to speak.
"That man has a lot of grit. He hasn't given up, and I'm not going to help him because he doesn't need it. He will figure it out on his own, because of his grit!" You declared with a large grin. "Keep on going, Mr. Joestar!" You then called out to him. Johnny, hearing you cheer for him, didn't stop, though he questioned your motives. He..did appreciate it, though at the same time he felt just the tiniest bit of doubt. That was an understatement. As you rode away, not being stopped, you felt the eyes of the other male lingering on your forn for a moment,

It was around an hour before the race started, and currently, you were being bombarded by reporters who had gotten word that Jean L/N's grandchild was competing in the race. Of course, most of the questions were about your grandfather, which you reluctantly answered them, as you didn't want to give yourself and the L/N bloodline a bad reputation. Climbing back on your horse, you put on a wary grin. "Well, I appreciate the interviews, but I'm afraid I have a race to attend to. Farewell~" You did a little salute with two fingers, before riding away from the reporters. As you rode away, you heard someone laugh, and turned your head, locking your e/c eyes with familiar green eyes. "Well, aren't you quite the popular individual." He commented, his tone neither friendly nor rude. Nor formal. His tone was rather unreadable to you. You raised an eyebrow. "..I'd much rather be ordinary at this point." You shot back. The male rolled his eyes, and pointed a finger at you. "You're..L/N. I saw you while I was dealing with that thief. You seem rather feisty." He hummed. You breathed out, somewhat relieved that he didn't appear to care who your grandfather was. That was definitely a first.
"You stand corrected. I am a L/N, but I'd much rather be called Y/N, as there are many other people who share my last name." You stated with a sly side smirk. The male paused, then chuckled. "Well then, Y/N. I'm Gyro Zeppeli." He introduced himself with a grin, and you stared at his teeth. They were gold, and had letters that spelled out the words 'GO GO ZEPPELI!'. Suppressing your amusement was hard, and soon you burst out laughing. Gyro watched you, wondering what he had done. He hadn't tried to make you laugh on purpose. You wiped a tear away, and grinned. "Sorry, Mr. Zeppeli. I saw your teeth and..uh, you must be really confident in your victory." You commented. "Hey, cut the formalities. I hate that shit." Gyro replied, before continuing. "And yes, I do believe I have what it takes..no, I know that I can win.' He smirked lightly. With a seemingly light hearted chuckle, you tilted your head to one side. "Really now?..I think I'll test out that theory, Mr. Zeppeli." You then continued to ride away, Gyro staring after you with an unreadable expression, before following you to the starting line.
You felt rather proud of what you had said to Gyro, so once you reached your spot on the starting line, you did a little happy jig on your horse, Penny just looking ahead, knowing he had to deal with your bullshit till the end of this race. He wasn't looking forwards to it, but he was ready to give it his all. You were interrupted as the announcer began to announce the champion candidates. Once again, you didn't care to pay attention, until someone suddenly took their place next to you, making you stop as you glanced over, looking over at a blonde haired male with a turquoise hat that had the letters 'DIO' on the front. 'Everyone and their mother is bragging about their name, whether it's on clothing or on their fucking teeth..' You thought to yourself.
'Man, I should've thought about putting 'GO GO Y/N!' on something. Then I'd be officially apart of the high confidence club.' You then added, as the male soon took notice of you. The two of you began to stare at each other, the male not breaking eye contact as you soon spoke. "Nice hat. I have a hat too, so maybe we can be hat partners, and dominate the competition with our hats." You suggested. The male raised an eyebrow, before scoffing lightly with a roll of his eyes. "..I don't need a partner to win this competition, L/N." He commented. "Huh?! Hey, how do you know my name? Are you a stalker?!" You challenged. The male's ears turned red, and he glared at you. "I'm not a stalker, idiot. The announcer was talking about you, but you were too busy dancing to notice." He stated. You made an 'ohh' sound, before you sighed. They probably brought up your grandfather. What did you expect? "So, uh, what's your name, hat boy?" You asked.
The blonde deadpanned, looking at you as if you grew two heads. "You don't know who I am? Disappointing..everyone knows the name of I, Diego Brando!" He declared. It was your turn to have a deadpanned look on your face, as you soon spoke. "Well I'm clearly special, Mr. Brando. Because I didn't know your name." You smirked confidently, and decided to ignore his gasp of anger as you focused your attention to the area ahead of you. After all, you didn't want to miss the start. So, as the announcer shouted out, you readied yourself, Diego doing the same besides you, deciding that beating you would be a good idea so he could make sure you'd remember his name. And, at the words of the announcer, everyone took off, the ground shaking below the hooves of the horses, or, as you saw, a male starting the race on foot. You went off, going into a zone as you paid little to no attention to who had also broken out from the pack.
Well, you had entered that zone as soon as the announcer shouted out the words, "THE STEEL BALL RUN RACE BEGINS NOW!"..maybe it was just something all L/Ns did when they raced. Or maybe it was just a you thing.
