⚡️Prologue: Run Away Baby
(Started December 5, 2020 at 12:30 AM)
Every time her foot hit the ground, she could feel her heart pump even more. Trees and plants sped past her as she wove in and out of the forest. Quite frankly, she would do anything to get away from those creeps that were chasing her. Nothing had worked though, so she kept going. She had no weapon on her, so she couldn't turf the ground and hide in ink.
"We have the target in sight! She's headed towards the forest's entrance!"
"Cut her off, cut her off!"
Behind the girl ran several scientists, all in short and light gear so that they wouldn't lag behind. Capture meant a slim chance of escaping and possibly worse, and this girl was taking no chances. She jumped over roots and avoided rocks that might trip her up. If she could just get out of this forest, maybe she could make it to a civilization that could help or hide her. She was losing breath, but she had to keep going!
Suddenly, a vehicle jumped out in front of her, armed with a lot of metal plating and mysterious machines on it as well. Riding it were several more scientists with tranquilizer guns aimed at her, and they were also dressed similarly to the ones that had been chasing her. Well, the girl's momentum was already fast enough, and stopping probably wouldn't do anything anyway. As it came down to the ground, the girl quickly transformed into a squid as she dove under the four wheeled vehicle. She could still hear shouts behind her as she kept running, as well as the vehicle revving up to come after her.
This was bad, so very, very bad. Now there were more enforcements with unknown tech, and she didn't even know what those did since the guns were already enough. She couldn't outrun a heavy wheeled 4 wheeler like that one, in fact, nobody probably could anyway. She needed a plan to get out of here as quickly as she could, because if they caught up to her in the vehicle and shot her, it would be over. She could even feel herself losing her breath as she kept running, though looking in front of her gave her a little bit of hope.
Up ahead, there was an area split into several different paths. Luckily, the girl had the advantage and could go down whichever one she pleased. However, she thought of something else, and instead hid within a tangle of prickly bushes and vines that were nearby, concealing herself from view. It hurt, but the scientists had made the mistake of not attaching anything onto her to track her, so she was going to use that to her advantage. She saw the scientists appear, converse, then split up amongst the paths.
She sighed as she continued to get pricked by the thorns of the plants she was in. She was getting hurt, but she lost them. Now, all she had to do was stay hidden and lay low for a while. Shouldn't be too hard...unless she had to get out and forage for food.
Hopefully she'd never see that horrid laboratory ever again.
