"How many weeks did you say"
You had asked Emily to accompany you to your 10 week sonogram. Going alone felt agonizing. You wanted a hand to hold on to. You couldn't just sit alone trying to avoid contact with the doctor. Spencer would've stroked your hair and kissed your forehead, spitting out random facts to calm your nerves.
"So far 10 weeks" after a 2 long nights of drinking bitter tea your voice returned slightly. You spoke above a whisper. You didn't want to strain your voice.
"That's amazing" Emily smiled and held your hand
She was sitting on a stool beside you. Both of you had been waiting for the doctor to come in.
"Hello Y/n" the doctor stepped in and sanitized her hands
"Hello Dr.- I-- Um sorry I never caught your name I'm sorry" you frowned
"It's okay I'm Dr. Alyssa Taylor but you can call me Ally" she smiled "So who's this fine women sitting with you today?"
You looked over at Emily. Her face flushed red and she had a cheeky smile on her face.
"This is my friend Emily Prentiss" you raised an eyebrow
"Nice to meet you Emily" Ally kept contact with Emily as she put on her gloves "Okay so I am going to do the same thing as last time, I'm going to lift up your shirt then apply the gel over your belly, okay?"
"Yeah"
She lifted your shirt and began to apply the cool gel.
"Do you have morning sickness" she asked
"Yes but most of the time I just feel nauseous in the morning now"
"Totally normal don't worry about it." she paused "Okay so it's a little early but I am going to look for a heartbeat" she began to move the machine over your belly "There it is" she smiled "Just what I wanted to hear, a strong heartbeat"
Once you heard the heart beat you squeezed Emily's hand. A tear fell down your cheek. For the first time it wasn't a sad tear. In this moment you felt all the happiness in the world.
"Em you hear that?" you turned to her with the biggest smile on your face
"Yes I do" she put her other hand on top of yours and smiled
Ally handed you a tissue "Next time I see you this little one should be around the size of a baseball and you will be able to find out gender."
You nodded and smiled
"Ok you see my hips? You swing right through nice and easy. All right, come on. You give it a try." Derek shouted from across the field
"It was just a ride to the airport. This wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I said I owed you one" You followed Spencer down the field and reached Derek
"Come on Spence, you act like this is torture" you stood next to Derek and put your hand over your face to block the sun
"Some people do enjoy doing this you know" Derek laughed
"Believe it or not, most of my childhood sports memories aren't altogether pleasant." Spencer stuffed his hands into his pockets
"Reid it's just one game. You might not even have to play." Derek threw is head back
"Come on Spence" you pouted
"Fine I'll be there. Can we go now?" he began to walk away
"Reid" You and Derek shouted at the same time
"Humor us. Just take the bat and get up there and give it a try." You took the bat from Derek's hands and pointed it towards Spencer
