Heartbreak Girl - 5 Seconds of Summer
--
I slammed the door shut unintentionally. I didn't realize how angry I was. It was overwhelming. I couldn't contain my emotions. I just really liked him. But I was stupid to think that he would like me just like that. Tears overflowed. And it wouldn't stop. My throat was hot and the stinging in my heart continued.
I threw one of my Doc Martens to the door to the bathroom out of frustration.
"Sugar, it's gonna be alright," Connie hugged me from behind. "Connie, what did I do wrong this time?" I wailed. "Nothing, sugar, nothing! He just can't see that you're one hell of a woman!"
"But I really like him, Connie."
A knock came on the door. "Go away, Judd," I groaned.
"Y/N? It's Leah."
"Oh. Come in," my voice softened.
She opened the door and I quickly wiped my eyes before turning around to meet her eyes. I waved awkwardly at her. "Hey, Leelee." It came out weirder than I had planned in my head. I face palmed at the thought of how ridiculous I must have sounded. "Fuck me," I muttered.
"What did Judd do to you?" she asked with genuine concern in her tone. She walked over to me and we both sat on the bed in unison. "If Judd did something bad to you, I have to make sure he pays."
"It's nothing. Not his fault at least."
"Tell me, Y/N."
"I do have feelings for Judd," I confessed. It was enough for me to put both hands on my face and start crying. Leah probably thought I was a crybaby. But having feelings for him fucked me inside out, sideways, over, under and everything in between. Whenever I'd see him, my heart wouldn't be the only thing beating.
"It's okay to have feelings for him, Y/N!" She hugged me from the side and comfortingly rubbed my back. "That's not the problem, Leah."
"Tell me the entire story, girl."
"Last night me and Judd shared a couple of drinks and lit a joint together. We got drunk and I kissed him and he kissed me and-"
"Oh my god!" She squealed. "I'm so happy for-"
"Leah, I'm not finished! I can't exactly remember why we stopped kissing. But basically this afternoon I was about to get a glass from the kitchen and then Judd was there and then he kept telling me to fuck off." I stopped to cry a little more.
"Aww," Leah sympathized. "Y/N."
"And he said that the kiss meant nothing and that he wasn't into me like that," I finished the story and cried some more. "It made me realize how much I like him, but he's not even into me."
Leah lectured me on how I deserved so much better and that Judd was missing out. But despite her support, moving on was never that simple. I tried to convince myself that I had only known this Judd for a short period of time, so to be into him would be stupid of me. But feelings are feelings and I couldn't help it.
"Girl, we're going to a party tonight. I'm introducing you to my scene and who knows some hunk's gonna hit you up."
"What? No!"
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"Leah, no."
"Y/N, yes."
"Please, Y/N," she begged with puppy eyes. "It's better than staying at home and being around Judd." My eyes widened at her statement. She was right. If I'm not here, no Judd! No awkward interaction, no weird glares, no me getting reminded of how heartbroken I am!
