Thin White Lies - 5 Seconds of Summer

"So we're going for Ashton, baby?" Connie questioned me as I was getting changed into a large sweatshirt for bed. "Mhmm," I hummed cheerfully.

"Ashton is a hunk," Connie sighed dreamily. "With them curly hair and those thick thighs you wanna ride," Connie began seductively.

"Connie, I don't wanna fuck him," I giggled and slipped into the sweatshirt.

"I know you don't." Connie's tone became serious. It actually concerned me. She was never this serious with me. "You might be attracted to him, but you can't lie, Judd's still on your mind." I stopped unbuckling my bra hearing Connie's words.

"Don't run away to another guy just because Judd rejected you. You're so much more than what a guy has to say about you, darling. You don't have to be with another boy just for validation," Connie lectured. "I'm way past that move, Connie. I have this connection with Ashton. He's perfect. We click so easily. And he's so much nicer than Judd," I tried to convince her as I finally slipped the bra out of the sweatshirt.

"Okay, sugar. Just don't lose yourself because of a guy anymore. We don't want the whole Jake incident to repeat."

Jake Preston. I had a crush on him when I was in eighth up till ninth grade. We were friends. We flirted a lot. I liked him and thought he liked me. I confessed. Turns out he didn't like me. He liked my best friend. I didn't mind but couldn't help getting jealous. Everyday then, I'd break down questioning what I did wrong or what was wrong with me. I became obsessed with him. He hated me.

"You're right, Connie. But I can assure you Ashton's a great guy."

"I know he is, sugar. Just take care." She hugged me from behind and I held her hand up front. "Thank you for always looking after me, Connie."

"Anytime, sugar."

The last party of the summer was at the Bilzerian's. I knew Guy Bilzerian. He was one of those lawyers who bullshitted way too much. He was my aunt's divorce lawyer.

I told Leah that I didn't want to go, but she promised me that Ashton would be there. But I had one issue, Judd was coming too. Ever since the party at Ashton's, Judd and I had become too bitter towards each other. I still played with his raccoons whenever they would come to my room through the vents, but I never really talked to Judd. It was like a divorce; he had custody over the children, but he still allowed them to visit me. I tried to play it cool though. I only ignored him most of the time.

Nick came along because apparently it was also his friend's party. Judd and Leah were acquainted with Val and Kurt, the older Bilzerian boys. Nick was close friends with the youngest, Jay.

Andrew also tagged along in "our" car. Judd was driving. Leah was next to him. I was on the very right of the passenger seat. Nick was in the middle. Andrew on the very left. I would occasionally feel someone looking at me whether it was Nick or Andrew...and even Judd through the rearview mirror. I had been getting along very well with Nick. Him and Andrew were actually very fun if not perverted.

"You look great tonight," Nick complimented me. "Thanks, buddy." I ruffled his hair. Not to sound narcissistic, but Nick is right. I feel extremely hot tonight. Connie had suggested that I wear a white tank top with mom jeans and boots.

I looked in the rearview mirror once again. Judd was looking right at me. I looked away.

Judd parked in the neighborhood and we all got off. Before I left, Judd stopped me. "Hey, guitar turd!" I turned around and rolled my eyes. "Phone on," he commanded. I took my phone out of my pocket and turned it on. I showed it to him as it lit up.

I hated that Judd was becoming like a babysitter. I guess Diane and Elliot must have lectured him or something. Whatever.

I caught up to the others and walked into the house. "This place is like the holocaust museum," Andrew commented. And I had to agree. The house was a trainwreck. We cruised through the house all the way to the backyard where the party was.
