The first night was the worst. Generally, parents have nine months to prepare themselves before the baby arrived. But these two become Ayeon's legal guardian in one night.
After the previous discussion with Lawyer Han, the CPS called them that afternoon. And they went straight to pick Ayeon up.
Been in a foreign place with people she never saw before made Ayeon cried out loud when she saw her familiar aunt and uncle.
Yejin soothed her while she sobs really hard in Yejin's embrace while Bin stroked Ayeon's cheeks to comfort her.
Maybe tired of crying, Ayeon fell asleep on the way home and Bin put her in the crib in her nursery room.
'Any recent updates from the investigation?' Bin asked her when they sat on the sofa in the living room. The surprise from Lawyer Han that morning and the lack of sleep made both of them not only physically but emotionally tired.
'Are you trying to gain some free information from me? How shifty you are.' Yejin mocked him.
Before Bin can deny it, cries can be heard from the nursery room. They both ran there as fast as they can.
'Don't pick her up! She needs to learn self-soothing.' Yejin stopped him before he can pick her up from the crib.
'What are you talking about?'
'Let's just sing, help her to comfort herself. Baby shark doo doo doo doo doo doo.' Yejin started singing the baby shark song, but Ayeon continued crying.
Bin and Yejin sang the song together, not forget about the famous dance choreography.
But they kept singing until the uncle shark's part. And Bin asked her 'How many shark family members do they have? It's like an endless song.'
The song didn't help that much, and they tried guessing what Ayeon wants.
'Is she hungry? Come on baby girl, Aunt Yejin will cook you some yummy foods.' She finally did pick her up though, which made Bin rolled his eyes.
Forty minutes of torture with Yejin busied herself with the mashed potatoes and oath chilla and Bin tried to calm Ayeon down.
'Come on, Yej. She's just a baby, this is not Masterchef US! Just give her the food already.' Said Bin who holds Ayeon in his arm.
'Alright, I'm coming! Here, Ayeon-ah.' She started to feed her, but Ayeon refused to eat it. She took another try, but still, Ayeon ended up spit it out.
'Why she doesn't want it? I tasted it beforehand and sure it's not like a Michelin star food but at least it's edible. I even followed the recipe from YouTube.' Yejin handed the bowl of mashed potato and oath chilla to Bin.
At first, Bin hesitated to try it but Yejin glared at him. He took the tip of the spoon to his mouth, 'This is terrible, Yej. Let's just order baby foods for her from the nearest store.'
Yejin took a deep sigh and agreed with him, in the meantime she gave Ayeon some baby biscuits.
Another incident occurred that night when they sat on the sofa with Ayeon sitting between them.
'Did you smell something strange? Like a poop, Bin?'
They both turned their heads to Ayeon.
'No, this can't be. I'm not ready for this.' Yejin thought.
They braced up their selves and checked the diaper. 'Oh my god!' they screamed at the same time.
They laid down Ayeon on the changing table, and as always, they bickering about who should change the diaper.
