'Yes, the one with Chinese character on the label. But maybe you want to buy a smaller one, Bin.'
The moment Yejin picked up the phone, Jimin has been teasing her non-stop with those playful grins as she using her arm to prop her chin. Yes, Yejin's best friend from high school, Han Jimin. Bin and Yejin ran into her at the subway a couple of months ago during their weekend gateway at Tokyo.
'I'm at Jimin's right now. And Ayeon is playing with Jehoon. Alright, talk again soon. Bye.' Yejin took a glance at the living room where Ayeon played with Jehoon before putting away the phone.
Drawing in a slow and steady breath, she tried her very best to suppress the smile. She knew Jimin would tease her, at least for the next couple of hours.
Meanwhile, Jimin, who was sitting across Yejin didn't move an inch. Not even an inch. Although Yejin tried to hide it, Jimin saw it right away. That radiant glow. And when their eyes met, Yejin found her best friend rising her eyebrows.
The professor made her best attempt to speak in a flat voice, 'What? He was just asking me about which sesame oil should he bought because he went to a Korean store today.'
With feigning boredom, Jimin couldn't believe what she just said, 'A sesame oil. Really? He calls you all the way from Cape Town just to ask you that.'
'I...guess so?'
'You know his younger sister, Soojung, is a chef and a restaurant owner, right? Don't you think he'd much likely to call her about that?'
'Maybe he called Soojung first, and he needs a second opinion from me?'
'Goodness, I feel like I'm teaching love as a second language here. If you are going to be like this, why did you guys break up in the first place? You call him when something came up at the office. He went to 7 bookstores just to get the book you mentioned once! And now you pick the sesame oil for him? I didn't know picking sesame oil could be this romantic until now. Maybe that's the case for long-distance relationships, but the point is...just get back together because you two practically and clearly still have feelings for each other!' Jimin moving back slightly with a shake of the head.
'No, we're not like that!' But the smile that reaches her eyes and a flush that was visible in the cheeks said otherwise. The professor obviously couldn't hide it anymore.
It's been almost three months since Yejin moved to Tokyo with Ayeon. As the two best friends lived only 2 subway stations apart from each other, they often spend weekends together. Just like today where Yejin visits Jimin's house.
While the two catching up in the dining room, Ayeon would have a playdate with Jimin's son, Jehoon in the living room. The 5 years old boy obviously adores her. Even saying to his mum and dad that he wanted a little sister just like Ayeon the first time they met.
'Even if you won't admit it, eyes don't lie, Son Yejin-ssi.'
'How's everything with professor Lee?' Yejin tried changing the subject by asking about her husband.
After glancing at the living room where her husband Lee Seojin played with the two kids, Jimin said with exaggeration, 'Nothing much except he's being clingier this past week. Sometimes it feels like I have another son when it's just the two of us!'
Yejin let out a peal of small laughter, 'But he's nothing like that at school though. I've only seen him once at the team dinner.'
'I've told him so many times just behave as you used to in school! But he won't listen to me.' Jimin threw her hands up in an I give up gesture.
Lee Seojin has 2 different personalities; at school and outside the school. Having known each other since the college days through Jimin, it took her by surprise when she found out about this.
