The Promise

Chapter Four

(The reunion)

"You could have bought me this ice-cream the last time we were here. I needed it when you told me you were leaving." said Sane.

Together on the bench licking Ice-cream cons. It has been hours chatting about their lives, including their childhood when they were dating.

"That's why I bought them now. To make up for it. I didn't have any money back then." said Gwin.

Both smiling at each other.

"I was afraid you wouldn't show up." said Sane.

"To be honest, I almost forgot, and I wasn't sure you would remember."

"I waited almost my whole life for you. There was no way I could have forgotten."

A reaction of worry appeared on Gwin.

"I never dated anyone else after you." said Sane, leaving out her meaningless relationship with another boy she dated in high school.

Gwin feels guilty, because in his mind he thinks he has betrayed Sane for seeing other people.

"So you are not seeing anyone at the moment?" said Gwin.

"As I said. I have never dated anyone else after you. Well I tried once, but it was just a waste of time because my heart belongs to you. Only you." Sane tells him nothing but the truth.

Gwin's heart begins to pound wildly, afraid to tell her he's getting married in a few months.

He did not expect if the promise was for them to continue where they left off years ago. Time has changed, and he has moved on with this life.

"Are you currently in a relationship?" Sane asks, surprising Gwin.

"Urmm.. Yeah, but it's not anything serious." he lied, hiding his engagement with a woman he now loves with all of his heart.

"Well good. Because I was the one who was going to come and kill that bitch if you chose her over me." said Sane, mocking him with his own words he said when they made a promise.

'If you forget about me I will come and kill that bastard you chose over me'

Gwin fakes a giggle while Sane is smugly satisfied with the way things are at the moment.

"Where are you staying?" said Sane.

"At the hotel. Elangeni." said Gwin.

Sane looks at him and she smiles awkwardly.

"You know, I have been saving myself for this day." said Sane, looking him in the eye.

Gwin stares back, seemingly interested what she means by 'been saving herself'

"Are you still a virgin?" he asks.

And her beam returns to her beautiful face.

"I think now I'm ready. The time has come. I have been waiting for you to be the one to take it." said Sane.

Gwin will be glad to honor her in bed as he never got the chance to when they were dating. He gets up from the bench and pulls her up.

"It would be my pleasure to take that wonderful care.”
