Jacob's POV
I stared at Isabella's sleeping figure. She looked like a little child with her arms still wrapped around mine. The red and orange highlights were still in her brown hair. I glanced at the clock on the bed side chest.
"Shit," I said. It was 8:50 and we were supposed to meet at the training floor at the basement at 9.
"Isabella! Get up, we're late," I said, jumping out of bed. Her green eyes fluttered open and she said, "I'll change first, you use the bathroom." I gave her a small salute and she rolled her eyes.
As I brushed my teeth, I realized I didn't know Isabella as well as I thought I did. From what I saw at school, I had alway assumed she was one of those quiet and shy girls who just followed orders. But I was way off. She was quite outspoken, and seemed to be able to give orders pretty well.
When I stepped out of the toilet, she already had on the training attire we were given. She pointed to a similar set on the bed and said, "They left yours outside," before she slammed the toilet door shut. I quickly got changed and dumped my clothes at the door of the bed. Isabella ran out of the toilet and grabbed my hand and dragged me to the lift lobby. We ran into the lift and I hit the button for the basement. The lift shot downwards and I turned to Isabella.
"Okay, stay clear of the stations that require a lot of strength. You didn't get enough sleep last night," I said. She rolled her eyes and said, "Whatever makes you happy."
Just then, the loft doors opened and we found ourselves staring at a room full of state-of-the-art equipment. We stepped out of the lift and walked towards the group of them.
"Close your mouth dude," Garreth said to me. I realized that I was staring around at the equipment with my mouth open. I walked over to Isabella and wrapped my arms round her and said, "Stop drooling over the arrows" She blushed and said, "Come one, just one try please?" Our called us over and I said, "Fine, just one try then." I was pretty curious myself to see if she could shoot. She grinned and we headed over to the instructor.
"My name is Eliah, and I'm in charge of your training for the next three days. There are four stations in total, and one is compulsory, that is survival skills. The rest are optional, but I suggest you spend time at each station. There is just one rule, no fighting with the other tributes," she said, eyeing us.
She dismissed us and immediately, Isabella dragged me over to the weapons station. I rolled my eyes and watched as she listened to the instructor. She gently picked up a bow, and the instructor handed her an arrow. I realized that the whole room was silent, and I turned around to find the whole room with their eyes on Isabella. Her hands were shaking as she positioned the bow. There was a pause before she let go of the arrow. There was a moment of awed silence before the room erupted in cheers. The arrow had hit the bullseye. As I gave her a hug, I saw Shane glare at her. Game on.
