"You," I said. The feeling of embarrassment, and the urge to walk out was at the tip of my mind; not wanting to hear, nor see Yuxin's reaction. "I'm not really sure how I liked you."
"I like you too," she replied, although there was something in her eyes that bestowed otherwise. "Just not romantically, I guess." And there I manage to smile — lightly. Almost faintly, and the vertigo of my psyche began. I'm lost at words, and gaining myself back was mere impossible at the moment. "I like your best friend." It struck me, oblivious of what has happened between our time frames that I missed to ponder. "I always like her," I would like to object further explanation, but at the same time; I do want to hear what she has in mind. "I knew her from the time both of you entered LYX, and I offered her a job before you."
"Then why did you not used her as your fake girlfriend?"
"Because I wanted her to be —"
I was bound to finish her sentence, it felt like it. "Your real girlfriend," with a ruptured voice, I breathed. "Perhaps I got you all wrong between the lines." Or you made me fall by intentions. Xin's a womanizer after all, lucky me; I did not get laid.
"I don't know what to say, but I'm shutting off all contracts with you."
"Huh?" My brows raised along with my voice. "Because what?" The most earnest look I could possibly give was out, and I am fearful of it. "I liked you?"
"It is not render to that fact." I listened, and bits by bits; frustration started to consume me. "I have plans with Keyin, and I do not look forward on having a fake chick." Plans my ass. "You can work in my hotel still," she uttered. "But not my fake girlfriend or secretary."
The mixture of tears trying to escape the barricade that I built for my eyes, and the anger inside my heart that wants to be heard; strangle me with pieces of events that I had missed to comprehend. "You could have at least told me."
Out of pure luck, Keyin arrived. "Jiaqi!" She embraced me from behind, and I just cannot stop my tears anymore. They have flowed like waterfalls down my cheeks, as I hold the bounce of my shoulders. Her head rested on my back, and I could feel her smile from behind. "I personally asked Xin to have you here." Now she's back to her normal self; not like the previous day. "I want my best friend in this special occasion."
Best friend?
I wiped my tears with the back of my hand, and smiled. "I am happy for the both of you." I shifted Keyin towards my front, and I embraced her with anger and felicity of love. "Just take care of my best friend, Liu Yuxin." I spoke softly, as I caress Keyin's lustrous hair.
"I will," Yuxin answered.
Keyin has her head rested on my shoulder, still enveloping me in her arms. I kissed the top of her head, and began to depart myself from her. "Hey you're crying!" She stated, as soon as she saw my face. "Why are you crying Jiaqi?!"
"Tears of joy," I lied. "I am just happy for you, finally meeting someone that'll love you as much as I do."
"Stop it!" And her eyes glisten afresh.
"Tell me if this Yuxin ever hurts you, okay?" My chest pounded heavily, aching in pain of what I am force to say right now.
"Yes ma'am!"
I glance over at Xin. "Hey!" I tried to smile, but I just can't. "Take care of my best friend." She nodded, and with that; I left. Heaving my luggage bag out of LYX, and passing by my lambo. The road was on sight, and subconsciously; my feet thrusted forward to it.
Now with a heavy heart, I stood in the middle of the road.
