Author's note:
Contextually Sophia Matthews is a sixteen year old girl from Oxford (in the south-east of England). Though she previously lived with her parents, a reverent, generally academically-focused couple; attended a private school thanks to an academic scholarship and was considered quite an upcoming musician in her area, after being seen kissing her best friend she was forced to come out as queer and simultaneously kicked out of her house. Despite this, thanks to the power of the internet and her friends' tendency to gossip, Sophia was offered a place in her Auntie Kathy's house in Moordale, Wales. In many ways this was a life-saver, after all she didn't have a lot of other options, but it did mean that her whole life was suddenly 147 miles away and Sophia had to start again. This begins three months after her arrival in the town when we see her set foot in her new school, the notorious Moordale High.
