Strong winds howl around the alleyways of the dimly lit street. Moments ago, your sweaty skin had you shivering, but no more. You felt serene, even slightly pleased somehow.
"Our boss told us to relay this to you." One of the crisply suited men spoke, a lilt of amusement dripping in his words.
You flinch slightly at the mention of that doomed man but he continues with an airy laugh.
"...That he had a great time with you." You scoff, feeling whatever will you had to fight being extinguished with that statement. Nonetheless, why would you be bothered? Fighting them would be a lost cause anyway. Your life was going to end here, and you had already come to terms with that... Hadn't you?
With whatever strength you had left in you, you chuckle dryly, "Ask him if he knows what 'guilt' is, men like him deserve to rot in hell."
You were right, he deserves to burn in the deepest, darkest corners of hell for his sins. At this point, you were talking straight out of your heart, no chains, nothing to stop you, but why? Why does it feel like your lips have their own intentions, like you were trying to get some more time?
Were you perhaps still hoping for a miracle that could save you?
‘ No, nothing can save you anymore, you are cornered and your body is weary. It's high time for you to stop hoping for senseless miracles.’
The shorter man clicks his tongue before using his foot to lift your chin roughly, you flinch and turn your head away from his snow-covered boot. This seems to make him madder as his nose flares up and he slams the same boot against your face. Warm, red fluid runs down one of your nostrils and your headache gets worse.
"Maybe just killing you is letting you off easy, why don't we have some fun with you first? You aren't worth anything else anyway." The short man asks, shocking you. You raise your head and glare at the latter with wide orbs that were sure to let them know of the hate you held.
"You are all going to die..." You growl darkly, menacingly almost. But both you and they knew who had the upper hand. That you were just the deer captured by the wolves.
"Not very soon, sweet heart~" he mutters as he bends down and moves his hand over to your torso, aiming to lift the clothing off of your body. You clench your eyes shut and turn your head away as tears trickle down your cheeks. Heart thumping in your chest, not ready to accept your dark fate as your body stays slumped against the cold bricks.
‘Is this how it's going to end?’
‘ shit, I never got to thank them... Never got to tell Mia that she deserves the world and beyond.’
‘ No! I don't wanna leave... Not yet! Not like this-’
“I wouldn't do that if I were you... Old man...”
Your eyes widen as you hear the familiar voice, suddenly looking back before you. The short man's hand had paused mid-way in the air, obvious shock playing on his features. The third man, who hadn't uttered a single word yet, slowly removes his beanie and cooling-glasses.
Your heart drops in your chest, feeling like your body was swept away right before it hit the ground from a height.
"Killua..." You mumble weakly, recognizing the ocean blue orbs staring back at yours, a look of remorse taking over his features. For a second you felt like you could read his mind, like your souls were connected, swimming in the warmth of his presence.
"Wh- Who are you?!" The tall man asks, almost too surprised but he quickly gains composure, pulling out a pistol from his holster before aiming it at Killua. Your heart drops again as you gasp, nearly choking on the dry air.
"No-" you manage to whimper, Killua still had his eyes locked with yours, searching for answers to his own questions. The one's which he sought for from the moment he sensed the pain beneath the mask you wore. He wouldn't admit it but he would go to the end of the worlds if it meant he could save someone from their own grief...
Just like how he had for Gon...
The silverette suddenly vanishes into thin air, surprising both you and the two men. Just as you were beginning to make an effort for escape, he appears behind the man holding the gun before twisting his neck back. The latter falls to the white ground with a sickening crack.
The shorter man knew he stood no chance against that inhuman speed, causing him to panic and try to run away. But Killua had other plans.
Just as he was about to make a run for it, Killua kicks the back of his right knee, making him tumble to the ground, groaning in pain. He strides over to him before locking the said man with his face to the ground and arms behind his back.
"Tell your boss that I'm coming for him... And-" he pulls at the man's arm harshly, breaking it before doing the same with the other one, making the man scream in pain.
"...Just a reminder for pigs like you." He lowers himself and whispers in his ear menacingly before getting off and turning towards you. The latter struggles to stand up, groaning from the pain before making a run for it.
The shock from watching the events unfold had long been replaced by a drained, pale look on your face. Tears start rolling down your cheeks as your mind starts registering all of it.
'I could've died...' Is all that you could think of. Killua kneels before you, eyes dark as he wipes the trail of blood away from your nose, followed by your tears.
Without uttering another word, he lifts your frail body onto his strong arms. Your eyes stay locked on his complexion, trying to understand why it was that he was there whenever you got in trouble. He had just saved your life, what could you possibly offer him for such an enormous feat?
"Hold on tight, we'll be there soon..." He requests, bringing warmth and comfort, both metaphorically and literally onto your being. Your heart swells with gratitude as your worn body clings tighter onto his suit.
As his body shrouds itself in blue energy, powering him up before he swiftly takes off into the distance, you know that he had left something unsaid in the air. Yet it was fine that way, the time would come soon.
'I'll tell you everything, Killua...
Because you deserve the truth more than anyone’
