Oh, the winds
before the storm,
teach me what God taught you!
Oh, how calm you are,
before it hits you.
God, the way
you contain yourselves.
Not a flicker of anxiety.
Or a hint of worry.
Teach me, dear winds,
what the world has taught you.
Teach me,
because when the storm stares me in the eye,
I hear it growl,
Ready or not, here I come.
And I?
I'm never ready.
