The rest of the day went by pretty fast. There wasn't many classes for the alumni in the first place so the afternoons were open for relaxing and what the Ministry hoped was their forced couples to bond together. After lunch Ginny walked with George to McGonagall's office to use the fireplace to floo to St.Mungos.
As McKenna stared after them she noticed a sudden presence to her left. Turning her head she saw Harry as he too stared after the red-headed siblings.
"So you too huh?"
"Hmm?" McKenna questioned.
"Fell for a Weasley. Can't say I blame you cause um well heh I got one myself." Harry chuckled propping his arm and leaning on McKenna's shoulder.
"Get off me!" McKenna laughed as well pushing her brother away from her.
"And yes I did in fact fall for a Weasley oh Chosen one."
"Oi! you get called that too so there is no way you can make fun of me with that!"
The twins laughed and started to walk back to their dorms.
"So is Ginny going with him or staying here?"
"Oh she is going with him today. She hasn't gone in awhile I guess she gave George some space for a bit."
"Ah that's understandable. So want to do something? We haven't really had time to relax in awhile."
"Sure! What do you want to do?"
"Quidditch?"
"you read my mind."
The twins made their way out to the pitch with their brooms in hand. McKenna grabbed the quaffle out of the box as her and Harry set off taking a couple laps around the pitch before tossing the quaffle back and forth. It started out kind of lazy, until each sibling started throwing it harder and harder until it was a all out competition to see who could throw it the hardest. That went on until with a small oof Harry got nailed in the gut. McKenna started laughing so hard she almost fell off her broom. Harry with a scowl chucked the ball back at her head. It missed causing McKenna to laugh harder. She slowly lowered herself to the ground and tipped off the broom giggling. Harry went and retrieved the quaffle before landing by his sister and unceremoniously dropping the ball on her stomach. Plopping down on the ground next to her Harry watched the sky until McKenna's giggles lessen into a sigh. It might not have been the time to bring it up but Harry nowadays realized he have much alone time with his sister.
"So, um uh how's it going?"
McKenna giggled again and looked at Harry.
"Um... Good I guess? and how are you?"
Harry sighed, he never was good with words about being touchy feely. This was more his sisters area but he wanted to help her. He could tell she was tired as the bags under her eyes have almost increased since they've been back to Hogwarts and her shoulders look so stressed and tense.
"I'm good Kenna but I wanted to ask, how's sleeping? I know you've had issues with it in the past and I guess what I'm asking is if you know..."
Now McKenna sighed. She knew this conversation would come up sooner or later. She was hoping for later."It's doing better, still happens sometimes but I'm doing okay." She smiled.
Liar Harry thought as he smiled back at her. He didn't want to push too hard but both him and Ginny had conversations about their siblings. The obvious tension and problems between them as well as the low levels of communications was concerning even thought there seemed to be an unspoken of connection between George and McKenna. They did just arrive not that long ago to Hogwarts and maybe it was just hard settling in but Harry dropped it, much to McKenna's relief. The sun started to set and with a loud grumble of Harry's stomach they got up and put the equipment away, starting their way back to the school for dinner. Ginny and George hadn't come back yet so McKenna ate with Harry and a very loud Seamus with an exasperated Dean. To her surprise she realized she had forgotten all about Ron as she saw him walk into the hall with Hermione. Did he not go see Fred today? She thought picking around at the food on her plate. Soon Ginny herself walked into the hall and scanned the table until she spotted Harry slipping down beside him in the seat he saved for her. It was perfect timing too because as soon as she finished the food she had put on her plate, everything disappeared and dessert took its place. McKenna cleared her throat
" Um sorry Ginny but, where's George?"
"Oh! I'm so sorry I forgot to tell you he went straight back to the dorm's he apparently wasn't hungry."
"Oh thank you! And it's alright you were hungry I don't blame you, its food!" McKenna answered with a small laugh. Excusing herself she wandered out of the hall and with an idea her steps found purpose and she soon found herself down by the Hufflepuff common room. Tickling the pear like she was instructed all those years ago by the Weasley twins she entered the kitchen. Looking around a small house elf spotted her and made her way over.
"Hello miss! Is there anything I can do for the great McKenna Potter?"
McKenna smiled gently and made her request.
"My friend didn't make it in time for dinner, I was hoping you could fix a plate for him?"
"Oh yes of course miss! Very kind of you miss! I will do that right away!"
The small house elf scurried off further into the kitchen. McKenna decided to wander in a little bit while she waited. Not much had changed from before, the same dusty yellow colored the walls and the smell of garlic and other herbs that hung from the ceiling wafted to her nose.
"Here you are miss I hope that it satisfies your tastes."
The elf stood before McKenna holding out a plate that had a large helping of mashed potatoes, roast beef and an assortment of vegetables.
"Thank you very much, and please call me McKenna. What is your name?"
"Oh very kind miss! The stories always said you were very kind and they are true 100%! I'm honored you ask my name, it's Lorelai."
"Well thank you Lorelai! I'll return the plate in the morning."
McKenna said while turning towards the door fork and plate in hand.
"Thank you Miss! uh I mean McKenna!"
Smiling McKenna made her way back to her dorm, with a steadying breath she entered. The living room was dark and quiet. In fact everything was dark and quiet. Making her way slowly as not to trip McKenna found the stairs and wound her way up to the bedroom door. She knocked softly."Hey George, it's me. You didn't come to dinner so I brought you some." No answer. McKenna twisted the knob on the door and opened it slowly. The moon shown through the window illuminating Georges lanky figure on the bed. She softly padded over to him. His eyes were closed and his face relaxed. Tear tracks marked his cheeks and he softly took a slow breath. McKenna gently put the plate down on his bedside table.
"Oh George" she whispered, "What am I going to do with you?" Slowly she reached out and stroked her thumb across his face. With a sigh she ever so lightly kissed his forehead to not awaken him. Standing straight she walked back out of the room rubbing her hand through her hair. The door closed with a soft click. George's eyes fluttered open. Once he knew she was gone he sat up and looked at the plate sitting on his nightstand. He didn't realize how hungry he actually was till the smell of green beans and mashed potatoes hit his nose. Needless to say the next morning the plate was empty much to McKenna's surprise and embarrassment. He was AWAKE???
