It was a late Thursday evening, all day I have been in and out of c-sections and births, I was really tired and ready to go home. I look at my watch to see that I have a little over an hour left. Since I wasn't doing anything pressing, I went over to the resident lounge to fill and try to finish some paperwork.

As I walked towards the room I heard someone call my name. I look behind me to see another resident in my class, Justin who was working down in the ER, rushing towards me. I stop and walk over to him.

"Hey Corman!" He said out of breath from running up here, "you are wanted down in the ER."

I was kind of confused because if they wanted me down, they would usually page me, "why didn't you just page me down, why did you run up here?"

"I don't think you are wanted for a consult, I think someone was looking for you, I don't really know I'm just the messenger."

I nodded reluctantly and headed down to the ER. Maybe Leah wanted my opinion on something or maybe a nurse wanted to ask me a question.

When I get down there I notice that it is busy- more than usual. There are people running around like crazy and police all over the place. I head to the nurses station to see what they wanted.

"Hey, um someone wanted me down here," I started, "I don't really know why though."

The nurse looked up and pointed to a trauma bay, "um the patient in there said he knew you, I'm not his nurse so I don't know who it is."

I walked over to the bay and pulled open the curtain, and to my surprise I revealed Spencer, shirtless, with a thick bandage around his upper arm. As soon as I processed who it was I rushed over.

"Oh my god Spencer are you ok?" I questioned with a hit of fear in my voice.

"Hey Rose," Spencer said slightly wincing when he moved his arm. I go to him and give him a hug, making sure to avoid his arm.

"What the hell happened to you?"

"Well I got shot in the arm," he chuckled.

"No shit Sherlock," I said sarcastically, "why did you get shot."

"An unsub takedown gone wrong," he stated while trying to calm me down, "we calculated his reaction a bit wrong."

I was freaking out, I knew that this was a possibility considering his job, and he has gotten shot before, but it didn't make me any less scared. It made me sad to see him hurt, I just wanted to make him feel better.

After a few minutes of Spencer explaining more in detail of what happened and him trying to console me, even though I should be the one comforting him, another man walked in. It seemed like he also got hurt.

"Pretty boy," the other man said, "is this your pretty lady?"

I looked over at Spencer slightly confused at to who this person was. Spencer's face was bright red, it was honestly quite cute.

"Derek this is Rosalie, Rose, this is Derek, one of my teammates."

I smile and reach my hand out to shake his, "hi!"

"Hello," he responded, "so you are the girl making him so happy recently?"

I blushed at the statement and slyly looked over at Spencer, "I hope I am."

Spencer looked over at me and grabbed my hand and placed a kiss on the back of it, "yes you are."

"Do you want me to get anything for you?"

"Could you get me some jello?" Spencer responded.

Derek chuckled, "don't get in the way of the kid and his jello."

I laughed and walked over to the area with food for patients and picked out a few different flavors of jello since he seemed to be a jello enthusiast. When I walked back over to the trauma bay I heard Spencer and Derek talking.

"So, pretty boy finally got a girl friend," Derek teased.

"Derek I told you, she's not my girlfriend." Spencer said sounding kind of annoyed.

When he said that my heart sank a little. I know we haven't made anything official, but why would he sound so annoyed.

"Oh come on, you guys would be great for each other, you can't deny the heart eyes you give each other."

Spencer sighed, "Listen, I want her to be my girlfriend, but I think it's best for both of us of we take it slow. She's been through some stuff and I haven't told her about Maeve yet."

Maeve? I thought, who was that? Was he married before? Does he have a kid? Was there someone else I should be aware of? I tired to push all these questions to the back of my brain and tell myself it will be ok.

I finally walked back into the bay after a few more minutes so it didn't seem like I was eavesdropping.
I smile as I enter, trying to make it seem like I didn't hear anything. I hand Spencer his jello, it was quite funny, but cute to see him smile over something so small.

One of the ER nurses came by telling us that Derek had to go back to get another exam for his wound. He waved goodbye to both me and Spencer. After a while more of taking to Spencer I started to see a look of pain in his face, he seemed to wince whenever he moved. The wound must hurt considering it was pretty deep and some shrapnel had to be removed, but not enough for surgery so they stitched him up in the ER.

"Are you ok Spencer?" I asked.

Spencer scrunched his face in pain, "uh yeah it just h-hurts pretty bad."

I frowned, feeling bad he was in pain. I looked at his chart, it said he didn't get anything for the pain yet, so I started to walk out of the bay to get something for the pain when he stopped me by grabbing my arm.

"Where are you going?"

"I was going to get you something for your pain, you didn't get anything for it yet," I responded.

A slight look of fear and reluctance came into Spencer's eyes, "what are you going to give me?"

"Umm I don't know I would have to check with a nurse but probably a very small dose of morphine or OxyContin."

Spencer visibly tensed at the statement, "u-uh no it's fine it actually feels fine."

"Spencer you got shot and are clearly in pain, let me help you."

"No! I don't want anything," Spencer responded a bit agitated. I was kind of taken aback at first, not knowing what was wrong, but I decided not to push it, at least right now since he was in pain.

I slowly nodded my head and made my way back to sitting on the edge of the bed with him, gently wrapping my arms around him.

I didn't know what was going through his brain- between what he told Derek and his reaction to what I said, I was kind of worried.

After sitting for a while longer and making sure Spencer was comfortable and getting proper care, my pager rang. He obviously understood I had to go so he gave me a hug and a soft kiss on the lips. Even though it was a short kiss, I could feel the emotion, the emotion of him saying he's sorry and he's ok. After a minute we pulled away, resting our foreheads on each other. I felt the chemistry flow through our veins, I swear I will never get tired of that feeling.
