Diana watched as the griffin from before landed down next to Peter and his unicorn. Oreius stood on Peter's other side. The griffin said something to Peter and even from Diana's spot on the ledge, she could tell that it wasn't good news by the way he slumped slightly in his saddle.

With that, a Minotaur wandered over a large pile of rocks all the way on the other side of the battle field. Diana watched as the minotaur held up his axe, giving his own war cry. And just like that, thousands of the White Witch's followers appeared next, seeming to appear out of nowhere.

Diana could practically feel the hope of Peter's army crumble. They were outnumbered. Majorly.

There were cyclopes, ogres, giants and dwarfs. There were minotaurs, polar bears, tigers and large bats. There were wolves. And then, came the witch herself. Instead of dressed in one of her icy blue gowns per usual, she wore gold.

Diana nearly threw up when she realized that the neck of fur around her mother's neck was Aslan's fur. She was mocking them, Diana realized, and she hated her mother for it.

Peter raised his sword and a horn blew. A minotaur roared.

And just like that, the battle had begun.

The White Witch's army charged, sending thousands of creatures running straight for Peter's army. He held still, his sword steady. He waited. He waited.

Diana wanted to yell at him to give the signal.

And then, he swung his arm back and threw it forward again, pointing his sword straight at the sky. There it was, the signal.

A sound filled the air, cutting out the battle cries of the charging soldiers. It was the rustling of wings. Diana and Edmund both looked up to see hundreds of Griffins flying overhead, all holding large chunks of stone in their claws.

When they were close enough, they began to drop the debris, sending it crashing into the White Witch's soldiers. Her army responded quickly, notching arrows onto bows and shooting the griffins from the sky.

Each time another fell, Diana flinched. It was like she could feel each death. It pulled at her heart as one by one, the griffins tumbled from the sky.

"For Narnia and for Aslan!" Diana heard Peter bellow, before he charged.

"For Narnia!" Diana shouted, along with hundreds of other voices. All the troops on the ground charged the White Witch's army. Time seemed to freeze, everything slowing down, sound fading away as the two armies drew nearer. And then, every sense came back in full force as the first soldiers clashed.

It was a bloodbath. Soldiers on both sides were dying, blood staining the once green field red. Diana had a hard time keeping her eyes on Peter and Oreius, as they had separated. Oreius was fighting with two swords, striking down threat after threat. Peter was doing marvelous, Diana thought, for it being his first ever battle.
