"So, Omi-kun," Sakusa glared at the male beside him but Atsumu was unbothered as he continued speaking. "What are ya' doin' here alone and grumpy on the table far away from others?"
"I could ask the same to you," Sakusa said smugly. "In my defense, I just arrived and I couldn't find my twin and his boyfriend," Atsumu said and grinned.
Sakusa was supposed to be annoyed by that annoying grin, but no, no. His stupid mind doesn't think that grin was annoying but rather cute.
"What does your twin look like again?" He asked to which Atsumu frowned and repeated his words earlier. "Looks like me but he looks crappier with his gray hair."
And Sakusa couldn't help it already and laugh which made Atsumu raise an eyebrow because, hell, that laugh was cute. 'The hell Tsumu.' Atsumu thought as if he could his brother's voice saying that to him.
"What are ya' laughing 'bout?" Atsumu asked when Sakusa tried to calm himself down. "You just described yourself as crappy indirectly, you know." Sakusa said as he thinned his lips, thinking what's wrong with him tonight for laughing like that.
"Oh shut up," Atsumu muttered as he pouted and Sakusa was amazed, to say the least. 'How could a man be so cute when he pouts?' And Sakusa shook the thought away quickly as he sipped in his glass.
"You're not from Tokyo, are you?" Sakusa asked. Atsumu shook his head. "Am from Hyogo but I'll be moving to Osaka soon." Atsumu said. "Huh, Hyogo, that's far... How did you meet the newlyweds?" Sakusa asked.
"Oh, it's actually my brother who's close with Akaashi since Akaashi's a regular in his new shop in Tokyo and I met them when I was visiting 'Samu. And I became close with Bokkun because of volleyball!" Sakusa sighed in relief mentally, knowing Atsumu was not a party crasher.
"And how 'bout you?" Atsumu asked. "I'm Bokuto's college friend. Been with the two from the start when they were just shamelessly flirting in front of us." Sakusa said as he made a gagged face, remembering college days.
"Omi-kun's jealous I see." Atsumu teased to which Sakusa rolled his eyes. "Am not. If you only know how Kuroo and I struggle whenever they're together. It's like watching a live slow-burn teenage love story right in front of you and it's kinda frustrating when they're both oblivious to obvious things like their feelings." Atsumu just laughed and Sakusa hates how he thinks that laugh was cute.
"So Omi-Omi likes direct people?" Atsumu asked that made Sakusa squint his eyes at the new nickname. "Omi-Omi? Really?" Sakusa asked and Atsumu just shrugged. "The nickname's cute, don't deny it. So anyway, just answer the question Omi-Omi." Atsumu said with a grin on his face.
Sakusa gave a disgusted look before sighing. "Yeah, I don't see the point of taking your time when you like someone so just say it as soon as possible. But I don't also see the point of wasting your time in dating when you're just gonna split in the end."
"Whoa, who hurt my Omi-Omi?" Atsumu faked a gasp. "No one, dumbass. It's just that... I can't see myself committing to someone like they did," Sakusa looked at the newlywed couple who are whispering to each other, not minding the wild atmosphere by the dance floor. "So I don't see the point of dating and all," Sakusa added, not knowing why he would tell a mere stranger all about this.
But sometimes it's better to rant on strangers who don't know anything about you and all they could do is listen. And Sakusa needed that somehow.
"Or maybe you just haven't found someone like how those two found each other," Atsumu said after a moment or two. "I don't believe in marriages but I believe in soulmates. Sucker for romance shit, I know." Atsumu added and laughed.
"So have you found that soulmate you were saying?" Sakusa asked, not wanting to sound disappointed but Atsumu's eyes glint with Sakusa's tone and shook his head. "Don't know if they were my soulmate but I didn't feel like they were." Atsumu said and Sakusa just nodded.
"Why do you sound so upset, Omi-omi?" Atsumu teased to which Sakusa rolled his eyes. "Am not. Stop assuming, piss blonde." Sakusa scoffed. Atsumu raised an eyebrow at the new nickname but just grinned once more.
And Sakusa wished he hates that annoying cute grin on the male's face.
"Why don't you go dance like the others? Or find your twin?" Sakusa asked as a change of topic. He didn't mean to be rude but he wonders why Atsumu stays with him at the corner of the party.
"Don't you want me here? You hurt my feelings, Omi-Omi." Atsumu faked a hurt expression that made Sakusa roll his eyes for the nth time that night.
"It's not like that--" Sakusa said. "So you like my company!" Atsumu cut the other male's words. "And it's not like I like your company either. Isn't it normal to look for your 'crappier' twin?"
"Eh, not my fault. 'Samu said they're in table 11 and--"
"Wait, table 11? This is table 17." Sakusa frowned.
"Huh??" Atsumu looked at the table number and he couldn't help but feel embarrassed since Sakusa was right. How could he misread 7 into 1?
Atsumu groaned internally.
How worse could the night go for him? After being stood up by his date at the last minute, how could he face his twin who's teasing him endlessly about how he's a single prick and he declared he has a date? And now sitting on a wrong table with a gorgeous stranger beside him?
But on second thought...
"Wait. I'm actually relieved I sat on the wrong table." Atsumu stated as he sighed in relief that made Sakusa raise an eyebrow.
"Uhm, Omi-Omi, can I ask you a tiny weeny favor?" Atsumu asked as Sakusa squinted his eyes. "Depends. What's that?"
"Uhmmm, I actually told my brother that I have a date tonight since he's been teasing me for months of being single. I do have a date but she stood up on me at the last minute that's why I'm late," Atsumu sighed before continuing.
"And I could not face my brother without a date so uhhh... can you be like a fake date for tonight? Just for an hour so my brother could get off my back for a while! Pretty please?"
Sakusa frowned. "And what's in for me?" He asked. Not like he would do something important but he'll be lying for an hour to another stranger and that wasn't easy. Talking to a stranger is already hard enough but it's surprising he's talking with Atsumu - a mere stranger just minutes ago - like this.
"Uh, maybe a cup of coffee? And I wouldn't bother ya' after that, I promise!"
Sakusa thought about it first.
He knows their chances of meeting again are very slim and boredom's slowly killing him in the reception anyway. And strangely, Atsumu has something that made him drawn in the said man.
"Sure, piss blonde," Sakusa said before regretting it and Atsumu widened his eyes before cheering in delight. And Sakusa hates it how he could not regret his decision after seeing Atsumu cheering like a child.
'A date wouldn't hurt, especially a fake one. With an attractive piss blonde stranger.' Sakusa thought.
Yep, he will blame all of his decisions tonight on the champagne.
