Halloween was finished, and the next holiday only swept closer. You could tell by the chill of the weather, walking down the hallways, it made the hair on my arm stick up and a chill trickle down my spine, I was shivering as my favourite time of the year staggered closer. Even the scent in the air spiked serotonin. Winter, snow, a palet of ocean blues and silvery greys, filled my pupils more and more. Not only this but the collision of green and red, symbolising the Christmas celebrations, how it was dawning nearer. Chestnut, pine and ginger wafted through the air, it could put anyone in a hypnotic space. It was almost soothing, the atmosphere. The past month or so after the 'truth or dare' party are quite normal, nothing out of the ordinary for the most part.
As it being near the holiday season, the holidays were brewing closer as well. I haven't gotten in contact with my parents at all since my first arrival at Hogwarts. But they didn't seem eager to talk to me either, it didn't seem like they cared at all. The thought of them forgetting or not caring about me at all made me nauseous. I remember them always being close with me, helping me with my educational step towards my future. Being real parents. I chose to wait, wait for them to get in contact with me, not get in contact with them first. If they really cared about their daughter, maybe they would send a letter. But... life is better at Hogwarts anyway, with my fantastic friends. They care about me, they put the effort in.
I tried to get the thought of the 'disappearing parents' out of my head, instead, I stopped my gazing into the ceiling in the slumber of my thoughts and get ready for the last day before the Christmas holidays. Nothing brought more joy than not having to do school work for two weeks in a whole. I planned to stay and dawdle the halls while everyone went home to their families. I knew that I'd have Sirius, Lily, Remus and myself at Hogwarts. I like to imagine how we will all spread the joy of the Christmas season with each other, no worries about homework, just in the atmosphere of each other. I sat up off of my bed and slowly toddled to the windowsill, struggling while trying to stand up straight, not entirely awake yet. I lean all my weight on the cement, admiring the symphony of the winter birds. They spin and dance through the slow, basking in the morning glory. The gusts of wind, whistle, I would imagine in joy, with the holiday spirit emerging onto the air.
I remove myself and glace over to my messy bed, begging to be made. Making my way over I collect the clothes necessary for the day. Today seemed like a lot more of a chilly day so I decided to layer myself with stockings, vest and robe, this combination would most definitely keep me snug for the day. Lily already went down to the Great Hall for breakfast as I was thinking about what could be, laying in my bed this morning. Being the last day before the holidays, it was decided by the school that students would be allowed to have the afternoon to pack if leaving for the Christmas holidays, our group decided to take advantage of the situation. I had no desire to rush into the day, so walking down the halls and past excited students brought me joy. I couldn't help but smile, looking down the aisle of the hall and seeing them all. The boys all called me over and Lily invitingly smiled. I sat down, readying myself.
"Good sleep everyone?" I beamed, looking at the breakfast options. There was a larger array of breakfast assortment in front of us to chose front, this could've been since it was the last day.
"Just lovely Y/N, just lovely," Sirius smiled, sitting on the table instead of the seat itself.
James suddenly stopped talking to Lily and adjusted himself in his chair giving him more room. "Now guys, I have a plan. How about you all come with me to the Potter's house for the holidays, I couldn't imagine spending it alone at my house, and staying at school for the holidays? Worst holidays ever, my parents would be joyed knowing I'm bringing friends home," James was almost too excited, his tone was getting pitchy. "We have multiple spare rooms at the Potters household, and it can almost be more than enough and loads supplies for you all during your stay."
