Chapter 17 - The monster within

I stood in the mirror, running my finger along the inside of my necklace, the crescent moon one Remus got me for Christmas. It hadn't been too long since that morning, nothing too exotic has happened either. We were doing everything in the spirit, playing in the snow, singing and chatting next to the burning fire, the scene was lovely. 

I play with the moon charm hung around my neck for moments, admiring its simple beauty as light reflected off of it from the window. Looking up into my own reflection, I see what horrid things that were left brewing in my pupils. I hadn't told Remus about what happened a few days before Christmas, I thought it would've been better to have left him in the dark about the situation of what happened that night, seeing although it was never a dream, and actually happened. But over the past few days, the horrors dawned on me, I was filled with tremendous guilt of cheating on Remus, and he didn't have a single clue. 

Perhaps he did recognise how off I had been lately, I had found my self unable to fully face him, my disgusting doings were drowning me. Thuds create a symphony on the door. 

"Y/N, can you get out already, it's my turn for the bathroom." It was lily. I groaned slightly, but moved from the standing position in front of the mirror, I took one last glance at the piece that hung around my neck, under was my throat filled with liquids of foul memories, it was almost hard to breathe. 

"I'm getting out Evans." Grumbling, I turned the door nob, to no surprise, Lily with her auburn hair which hung down her shoulders, she had her arms crossed, not obviously seemed not too happy about my unhealthy amount of dwelling time I spend in that room.  "Gosh I didn't take that long did I?" I laugh, pushing through to get to my room. 

I toddle down the familiar halls of the Potter manor, taking a few looks at what seemed like 18th and 19th-century artworks. alluring pieces I could spend hours reviewing, but standing there for hours would call for questioning. 

Without trying to stop in my path, making my way to my bedroom, I lay down the toiletries that came with me to the bathroom pity pilgrimage. Placing them back in my carry bag where they belong, I sit on the bed. Looking outside. Nothing seemed too different from every other time I would look outside. The snow was still roaring, and the ground was still frosted with a thick layer of a crisp white blanket. 

"Knock knock, it's me, come downstairs. We have some fun things planned on the itinerary for today," Remus said, poking his head in. He seemed stern with his words. 

"Yeah I'll just be a minute," I echo, deciding not to look at him while saying this. 

"No I said now, you are coming down right now." That sentence in its self made me turn around. 

"Remus what the hell, I'll come down when I want to." His eyebrows bent inwards, and he walked towards me. 

"Can you do what you're told," He is standing over me with his arms crossed like Lily's were this morning when she was waiting for me to get out of the bathroom.

"I said 'in a minute' and since when do I have to do as I'm told, are you my mother or something?" I said, standing up off the bed to face him. He still looks down upon me, as some sort of mockery. 

"Just do what you're fucking told Y/N," Remus said between teeth, grabbing my wrist pulling me out of the room. My eyes are most likely wide with shock, at what just came out of his mouth.

"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," I slightly whisper to myself. He looks down at me. 

"What did you just say?" He questioned, he was pissed, I could tell with the forceful tone he was putting out. 

"You heard me Lupin. Someone. Woke up. On the wrong. Side of the bed! Is that clear enough for your deafening ears?" I smirk to myself, one of his hands wrap around my cheeks, pushing and squeezing them together.
