Chapter 1 - Newfound friendships

9 and 3/4, how bizarre, the environment on a whole was bizarre, Kingscross station was the rumbling place you needed to concentrate hard to observe or it's just a blur, people busy, people rushing. Nothing like back at home in Massachusetts. Ilvermorny, school of witchcraft and wizardry, like my second home, getting used to the word 'Hogwarts' was a struggle, peculiar even to pronounce. Wasting my time dawdling between the tracks, the last was called onto the 'Hogwarts' express. Dawdling once again, all the compartment were full, almost giving up, there was an almost empty one, baring a girl who looks around my age, red hair, emerald eyes. Her inviting smile brought warmth to my tense body.

"I'm Lily, Lily Evans, are you new? I haven't seen your face before walking down the halls?" Lily beamed

" New? That I am" I chuckle

"I'm Y/N, from Ilvermorny, are Hogwarts students educated on other magical schools?"

" I guess not, your accent, its strikingly interesting, where is Ilvermorny again?"

"America" I laugh

" Oh how I wish to go there someday Y/N, you should take me", glancing at each other than out the window.

" This seat saved?" Slickly glaring at Lily, the boy was abnormally taller then most of the other boys, he seemed to be in my grade, his jet black hair hovering just above his shoulders,

"Oh Severus, how do you get so lost on this train, we've had the same trip for the past 4 years" Lily chuckled.

" Servus, this is Y/N, she is new here, from Ilvermorny, you probably could've guessed from the accent but its more fun if I told you," Lily's tone told me she was excited to have a new member to her little crew.

"Interesting" Severus said, seeming to be on the verge of approval of me, "And I am Severus, Severus Snape"

What a peculiar name, I would never here that back at home, Massachusetts held the world most ordinary names. Never have i heard Severus.

Hours passing by, the three of us stumbled between conversations, silly and friendly arguments trickled in from time to time, but overall the time seemed to be going awfully fast for my liking. The arrival isn't as exciting as it sounds, we travelled on the water to get to the landing, the trio all fit in the same boat. At ilvermorny, my house was Wampus, not being a first-year at Hogwarts, they assumed where I fit based on previous sortings, putting me in Gryffindor. Personally, I'm definitely happy with these results, because being with Lily will make my life here in Hogwarts much easier to manage. weakly walking up the stairs to the dorms, I found my uniform ready, folded neatly on my bed.

"The red tie and robe will look good on you" she laughed, sorting through her bag. Holding up my new uniform I imagined tomorrow, my first day at my new school, I assumed it will be stressful, a pain to rush through the day.

Waking up in the mornings isn't easy anywhere I've realised,  no matter where you are in the world, putting the effort to realise me from the chambers of my blankets was struggling, but I couldn't be late for my first classes, or even breakfast, it would look terrible being new and late. Looking to my left I see Lily, still deep in the slumbers of a dream, she shouldn't be late for breakfast either, I slightly hummed her name, but it seemed to do the trick. Within minutes we were walking through the main hall, baring the most mouth-watering breakfast, I couldn't wait to get into it. I couldn't help to notice I felt stares lying on my broad shoulders.

" Sleep well?" Lily exclaimed pouring herself water.

" Very average if I do say so myself" glaring back into her eyes. Looking at my sheet, my first class happened to be astronomy, joy bubbled inside me, the luck I had, having my one of my favourite subjects first. At my old school, I was top of the class in astronomy, teachers favourite if I do say so myself.

" So what do you have this morning Lily?" Lily unfolds her scrunched paper holding her classes

" Herbology i believe, not too bad, not as bad as potions"

" You don't like potions?" I gleamed, not believing what she just said.

" Can't bear it, I always get it wrong, it never makes sense to me" Lily frowned, playing with her food on her fork, piercing her fruit like a kebab.

" Maybe you just need a little bit of guidance, perhaps I can help you, tutor you this week, give you a boost in your potions studies, that can potentially get you back on track, maybe even like it?" I said.

" It would be nearly impossible to get me to like that foul subject, but i definitely need the help, would you really be up for it Y/N?" Lily said with guilt grabbing her throat. I smiled.

"Of course i can, tonight we can get started". Grabbing and clumping my books together, making it easier for me to grab, i slid out of my chair, trying to make an exit to the door. Me being the clumsy person i am, i fall over the long chair, topping on a student. Me on top of him we gasped, he chuckled realising my hand was resting on his chest, the smile, oh the smile made my heart race. Trying to not make a fuss of the toppling, we try to get our baring standing back up again. The boy had hair similar to Severus, hovering above his shoulders, dark brown or even black. His grey eyes were a deep pit, almost swallowing me whole.

" You must be the one and only Y/N," he said, slowly looking me up and down.

" That I am" I snarled bending down to get my books I dropped whilst making a fool of myself 2 minutes ago.

"No let me" Sirius demanded, bending down with me. For point two seconds we made eye contacts, deeply examining each others pigmentation pooling around our pupils.

" How mesmerising are your deep Y/E/C eyes, wish mine looked like that", the hue of rose probably erupted from my cheeks.

" No you don't, mine is boring" I stumbled across my words trying to sound confident.

" If you insist" with those last three words he walked right past me, his robes gently touching my hand briefly. Looking back to see Sirius one more time, he slides past the door, making eye contact one last time, enough to make me want more.
