Rakim
"Boy, I thought they locked you back up! Don't scare me like that any more, ya hear?" My mother waved her wooden spoon in my face before I nodded and sat down at the shabby table in the center of the kitchen.
"Yeah," I pulled my hat off and unbraided my hair.
"So, did they get Solana?" My mother asked as she turned her back to me and began stirring the eggs.
"Nah, don't nobody know me where she at. I hope they find her, I miss chillin with her, and I need somebody to braid my hair." I chuckled.
My mother turned back to me and rested her fist on her hip with a sly grin, "I can braid your hair, Rocky. I used to all the time when you were little."
"Uh uhn, ma. That shit be hurting."
She chuckled, "You like her, don't you, Rakim?"
"Of course I do. We best friends. That's my nigga." I shrugged. Why was everybody tripping on me? "There's just so much she does that would usually hurt with anyone else but doesn't with her. Like when she helped me when me and Yams got in that fight and he fucked my ass up."
"What'cho mouth, boy."
"Yes ma'am." I responded, "Well, Ima go shower.

Just as I tied the towel around my waist, the house phone rang and since my mama was gone already, I had to answer it. I tipped into the living room careful not to slip on the hardwood floor and picked up the ringing phone.
"Yo," I answered.
"Hello, may I speak with Rakim Mayers? This is Detective Coogler."
"Yeah, this is he." I replied, my eyebrows knitting together.
"Solana's here. She-" I dropped the phone and ran to my room to get dressed.
I slipped on a white t-shirt and a green flannel before sliding my black Timberland's on. For good measure, I sprayed a little Dolce and Gabbana on and after throwing my hair into a ponytail, I was on the first subway to the precinct.
"Sir, you need to slow down!" I Heard someone call after me as I swung the door open and rushed over to where Ashleigh and her mother stood.
"Where is she?" I breathed, feeling my nostrils flair.
Ashleigh, ran her finger over her closed eye that was shedding tears and pointed towards Detective Coogler's desk where Solana, her mother, and her biological father sat.
I felt myself smile and I didn't hide it. Maybe I did have a few extra feelings for her.
