"So, Ms. Iman, could you tell us what you remember from this sighting?" Officer Coogler asked, leaning on the table as if he was on Law and Order.

"Sure... It was late, uh, around eleven p.m. when I heard this man rushing a girl out of the store. She had on sunglasses and a hat. The brim was low over her eyes, but there was no mistaking those freckles. Especially the on on her lip and that big hair..."

As soon as the two met the door, the news reporter began to talk about the case that had almost the whole nation stirring for the past two or three months. I noticed the freckles and hair and my pulse quickened.

Was I bullshitting, or had I just seen Rakim's friend that went missing a few months ago? This fucking phone wasn't working, so I left my cash register and rushed to the break room to use my phone. This was crazy and my hands wouldn't steady enough to dial three simple numbers in one try.

Finally, a dispatcher came through, and I choked out my sighting. She put me on hold while she patched me through to the NYPD.

While I wait, I guess I could explain myself. Like, the fact that I'm in the middle of nowhere. Its not really the middle of nowhere, it just isn't hectic like New York City. I'm in upstate New York. My grandparents live here and since it's easier to get a job in a place like this than it is to get one in times square, I drive up here every weekend to help my grandparents out and work.

"NYPD, Detective Pitt speaking."

"Uh, hi." I began, my voice unstable, "I'd like to report a sighting..."
