"Alright, Ms. Iman." Officer stood up, "Thank you for coming to us. That was the-"
"Officer Coogler!" Came a shrill cry from outside the interrogation room.
Immediately, Coogler rushed to the door to see what the matter was. A female continued to cry out his name while detectives held her back from the room she knew he was in. She couldn't go in, but she refused to wait. He told Chanel to stay in her seat before he exited the room and noticed a familiar face. Although he couldn't quite put the name with the face, he knew she was here about her best friend, Solana Rowe.
Coogler ordered the detectives to release her and motioned her over to his desk. He crossed his arms, his eyebrows knitted in frustration, and asked her to explain her reasoning.
"Mr. Rowe! Isaiah Rashad! One of them know where Solana is. You need to call them in for questioning." She responded breathlessly.
"How do you figure, Ms." His voice trailed off letting her know she needed to tell him her name.
"Carborson; Ashleigh Carborson. I was at school maybe a week ago when Isaiah showed up to one of my classes and told me to come out to the hallway. That's when he told me he and Solana ran off together and were in hiding." She sniffled.
"Isn't that your boyfriend?" Coogler raised his eyebrows.
"I don't know anymore. Anyways, my mother and I went to visit Solana's parents last night. We got there and Mr. Rowe wasn't home at the time. My mother and Mrs. Rowe carried a conversation until he arrived and apparently he paid our car outside any attention because he made his way to the kitchen, he sneered "I went to check on that ungrateful bitch, Solana". That is, until he noticed us there. He stopped short."
"What happened next? Did he hurt you or your mother?"
She shook her head, "No, he ran us out and said if we told anyone he'd kill the both of us and lay us on the steps of our brownstone."
"Alright, where's your mother, sweetheart?" He asked, as he finished writing something on a notepad.
"Outside trying to find a parking spot." Ashleigh responded as she finally got her myself to stop crying.
"Well, unless she'd like to make a statement as well, you 're free to go." The officer responded picking up the phone.
"I-I'm scared!" The teenage girl blurted, "A-And even though she won't admit it, I know my mother is too."
The officer put the phone down and looked at Ashleigh, "Well, right now, we can't apprehend this man. All we have is a statement from you. No solid evidence. Right now, the best you and your mother can do is lay low for now."
Ashleigh nodded and stood to leave.
