Hyunjin came back home from his part-time job and met his mother sitting on the ground of the living room.
"Hi" he bowed forward to her.
She returned a small and cold "hi".
He then disappeared into his room, where he got to his schoolwork done.
She called him to dinner, and they quietly ate together while watching TV.
That was their normal way of eating. No conversations. A little food while watching TV. But it made Hyunjin happy because that was the closest, he gets to be to his mother through the whole day.
He suddenly got an audio message from Bang Chan in their group chat.
STRAY KIDS EVERYWHERE ALL AROUND THE WORLD
BANGCHANIE ["Yoa guys! I got us to a little dance competition-]
Hyunjin immediately switched off his cell phone and looked at his mother hoping she hadn't heard.
To his disappointment the rice was already falling out of her mouth looking at him with a death glare.
"YAH!!! Didn't I tell you stop fooling around and concentrat on school !!!" she yelled at him, getting a little rice spit on his face.
"Why are you so against it. That's the only thing I really enjoy. Why do you despite it so much?" He protests.
"It doesn't bring you any money! I want you to be out after your high school graduation and make your own money," she yelled at him.
"That's only 6 hours a week and I also pay for everything myself," he assured her and hoped that she would come to her senses.
"Man, I should have never taken you in when your parents gave me this money," she muttered.
But Hyunjin could hear every word clearly "What ...?"
She looked at him blankly until a small grin appeared on her lips.
"I SHOULD HAVE NEVER TAKEN YOU ALONG WHEN YOUR PARENTS GAVE ME THIS MONEY. BECAUSE OF THEM I HAVE TO DEAL WITH SUCH AN UNGRATFUL BRAT LIKE YOU" she shouted at his face and locked herself up in her room.
Hyunjin's jaw dropped. His body started to shiver, and his eyes were shaking.
He couldn't believe what he had been told just now.
"She isn't my real mom...She got paid to be with me" his voice was shaking.
