Alexander's POV
It had been a few days since my confrontation with Cassia and I have not seen her since. The day we had the confrontation she didn't show up for dinner and hasn't for three days, today would be four. My wolf was getting antsy. He wanted to make sure she was okay. I on the other hand could care less.
"Hey everything okay man?" Aaron asked.
I was currently in my office with Aaron, Eric and my father going over some training plans and updates. They were all staring at me.
"Uhh ya. Sorry what did you say Eric?" I asked.
"I was saying that I think some of the warriors in training are ready to take their final warrior test." Eric repeated for me.
"As Alpha you will need to oversee the tests. You get all final say in who passes and fails. I thought this would be a good time for you to take that over. Your Alpha ceremony is only just over a week away." My father explains.
"Okay. Let the warriors know the test will be in three days from now." I announce.
"I will send out a mind link when we are done here." Eric said writing himself a note.
"I also would like to look over each potential warrior's file" I said.
Eric nods and adds this to the list he started at the beginning of our meeting. He is always so organized. I wonder if Cassia is like that.
I stop myself from thinking anything more on that topic. My wolf must be messing with my head.
"Not me." Jackson pops into my head to say. I block him out before he can say anymore.
Why am I thinking like this? I can't let the mate bond interfere with my life.
The meeting ends quickly and Eric and Aaron leave. My father doesn't make a move to leave.
"Was there something else you wanted to discuss father?"
"Actually there is. We need to talk about Cassia."
My wolf perks up at Cassia's name.
"No we don't." I say making a move to leave.
"Sit." My father says sternly. I'm not Alpha yet so he still has some authority over me.
I silently sit back down and wait for him to speak.
"The pack is talking. The news of Cassia being your mate has spread. I imagine it has also spread outside of the pack as well." My father says.
"And why should that matter to me?" I say.
"Because everyone believes you have accepted her. You are putting that poor girl at risk, a target both for those within and outside the pack." My father says raising his voice.
As if I hadn't thought about that already. I may not have accepted Cassia, but it doesn't mean I hate her. I don't want anything to happen to her.
"What do you suppose I should do about it then father?" I ask.
"Well it appears you have a few options. You could tell the people you have rejected her. Her name would no longer be associated with you." He suggested.
"But I haven't rejected her. You know that would make my wolf and hers weak. I'm not doing that to myself. I won't risk the kingdom over some girl." I said.
"Alright then. I would suggest accepting her and protecting her yourself but I assume that is not an option you would consider. I suppose our only option then is to assign guards to her for the time being."
