Alexander's POV
"Where were you?" My mother exclaimed walking into my office with my father.
"What do you mean?"
"You were supposed to be at the palace entrance an hour ago to meet Carter, Emily and Cassia when they returned from Europe. They came back early specifically for your coronation." My father said.
"Oh right. I forgot they were coming back today. That must have been why Aaron was in such a rush to finish earlier. I'm sure they weren't too upset that I wasn't there to meet them."
"It doesn't matter whether they were upset. As King you have responsibilities and you need to follow through on promises you make." My father lectured me.
"You need to make sure you are at the party tonight. I promised them you would be there." My mother said.
"Fine I will be there. Can I get back to my work now?" I said.
"8 sharp. Do not be late" My mother said as she left with my father.
I thought once I became King the lectures from my parents would stop. All my life they have lectured me about how every move I made would be followed and that I needed to present a positive image to the public. My whole life has been about preparing me for this moment. Now that this moment has finally come I figured all this controlling would end.
The Marks family has known me all my life. Cassia and I grew up together and Carter and Emily are like second parents to me. Why should it matter if I miss greeting people I have known all my life? Now that I'm King I should be able to do what I want.
I sigh and sit down in my chair and turn back to the paper in front of me. I work for a few more hours before heading back to my room. It took me longer than usual to get through my work, My wolf, Jackson, has been on edge the entire time. I finally decided to give up trying for the day and go for a run. I quickly changed into shorts and a t-shirt and walked out through the garden at the back of the castle and towards the forest.
Once I got to the trees I stripped out of my clothes and shifted into my wolf. My wolf is larger than a normal wolf because I am an Alpha and larger than an Alpha because I am an Alpha King. I have dark black fur and the same dark brown eyes as I do.
As soon as I had shifted my wolf bolted into the woods and was weaving in and out of trees and bushes.
"What's up with you today?" I asked Jackson.
"Something big is coming I think." He responded
"What do you mean something big?"
"I'm not sure." He finished.
After that he broke off our communication and focused on avoiding the trees we were running past. I was left to my own thoughts. What could possibly be so big to cause my wolf this much distress.
Cassia's POV
I woke with a start to loud knocking at my door. My book had fallen closed on the bed beside me, the jet lag must have gotten the best of me. The knocking came again and I quickly got out of bed and opened my door.
"What?" I said as flatly as I opened to door. I'm not a huge fan of being woken up from a deep sleep, well any sleep actually.
"It's almost 6. We were going to get ready together remember." Lili said pushing past me with a dress in hand.
"You didn't forget did you?" Lili said looking sternly at me.
"No! Of course not. I was sleeping, just give me a minute to wake up"
