Alexander's POV

I ended up losing track of time and before I knew it I was rushing back in through the back doors of the palace at 7:45. My wolf had completely taken over and ran through one section of the forest on the opposite side of the castle from my room for over an hour. I usually don't make it over to that part of the forest on runs, but my wolf really wanted to.

Once I noticed the time I quickly took over control and ran back over to the side of the castle closest to my room. As I was sneaking in the back down one of the hallways near the ballroom I heard some footsteps coming towards me. I quickly ducked into a storage room, hoping it wasn't my mother.

"Uh I have such an eye for dresses. You look amazing."

It was just my sister.

"You've told me that like three times since we left my room."

I knew that voice, I just couldn't seem to place it. Whoever it was, her voice sent shivers down my spine. I had a strong urge to come out of my hiding place so I could see just who that beautiful voice belonged to.

"Hey Lili do you smell that?" The voice asked.

"Smell what?"

"It smells like fresh pine and maple."

"Must be the cleaning supplies that were used. But I don't smell anything."

And with that I could hear their footsteps heading down towards the foyer. I quickly slipped out of the room and made a beeline for the stairs that led up to my room. If my sister had seen me she would have for sure ratted me out to my mother. The only person in the world who can scare me is my mother. You do not want to get her mad, trust me.

Luckily I made it to my room without being seen. My mother must have been in here earlier because some clothes were already set on my bed for me.

I quickly put on a black suit with a black bow tie. I finished off the look with the crown my mother had set on my bed. Being the next King and current crown prince it was expected that at formal events I would wear a crown. I honestly hate wearing it; my head always hurts by the end of the night.

Once I was satisfied with how I looked I headed back downstairs. My watch now said 9:00pm. My mother was going to kill me. I decided that if I could sneak in through the garden I might go unnoticed.

As I was making my way through the garden and almost to the ballroom door I was stopped by a voice.

"Hey Alex, is that you?"

"Stacy! Shouldn't you be in the ballroom?" I asked.

Stacy was the daughter of one the warriors of the pack. For the last 4 years we have hooked up on and off. Nothing serious has ever come out of it, but we do always have a good time if you know what I mean.

"Shouldn't you be inside?" Stacy asked me pointedly.

"That's exactly where I was headed. Now if you'll excuse me" I said trying to push past her.

"Hold on. Why don't we walk for a bit? It's getting kind of boring in there." She said grabbing my arm and pulling me back into the garden.

"Uhh sure." I said following her while looking back at the ballroom where I was supposed to be.

After walking for a bit we finally reached a bench in the back corner of the garden, the farthest possible corner from where I was expected to be at the moment.

"I just don't get why it is such a big deal that those people came back. Like who cares and why do they get a party." Stacy started.

"Well I mean he is the current head warrior... and he was serving our pack abroad for 4 years. He is kind of important." I said.
