"It doesn't matter when you're from, I'll love you nevertheless"

Katarina slowly nodded still observing the boy. He seemed familiar she just couldn't put her finger on it. The boy gestured for her to follow him. He leads her through the students and cramped space between the bookshelves. He reached out toward a book and slid it out of its spot.
"Here," he hands out the book, "this one has a lot more theories and concepts regarding time."
Katarina smiled and gladly took the book.
"Is there a reason why you're looking into this topic? Horology paper perhaps?" He asked as Katarina skimmed through the book.
She looked up from the pages of the book and faced the boy, "no, I'm just simply curious, I'm interested in the concept of time travel".
A smile spread across the boy's face, "that's nice, usually my friends would never come into the library unless it was necessary for an assignment," he chuckled.
"Your friends?" Katarina asked.
Katarina thought back to her Transfiguration class where the boy had been sitting beside James and Sirius.
"Oh, say why are you friends them? Your personality is so much more different from James and Sirius, you a lot more docile," Katarina pointed out.
"Well I suppose it's because they're real friends, they accepted me for who I am," the atmosphere had suddenly become very depressing which Katarina desperately tried to switch topics.
"Thank you for leading to this book," Katarina gestured to the book in her hand.
"No problem, if you seeking out another book it would be a pleasure to help," He grinned.
"I still haven't caught your name," Katarina awaited an answer.
"It's Remus, Remus Lupin," Katarina unknowingly dropped the book out of her hands in surprise.
Meeting Harry Potter's father was one thing but this was uncalled for. Although she was aware of Teddy's father being friends with James Potter she never truly processed the thought properly. As the bell rang indicating for her next class Katarina hastily left the library without uttering a word to the perplexed Remus Lupin.
--
Potions was absolutely nerve-racking. Katarina's face flushed red in embarrassment when she was grouped at the same table as Remus Lupin. At first, Katarina had been sitting with Alice and Lily but was then moved to a table that consisted of Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and two Slytherins. On the other side of the classroom, Lily wasn't too happy either being stuck with Potter.
One was the Slytherins was identifiable by his slicked-back bright blonde hair, he was evidently a Malfoy but his name was unknown to Katarina. As for the other shoulder lengthed black-haired boy Katarina could not recognize.
Katarina buried her face in her palms she felt like crying, her first day there did not go as she had hoped.
"You forgot your book," Remus slid the book towards Katarina.
Katarina was a mess, she desperately tried to think of an excuse.
"Thanks, listen I didn't mean to-"
"It's fine," Remus smiled sheepishly.
"Am I missing something?" Sirius asked looking between the two.
"Yea you're missing a brain cell," the black-haired boy remarked.
"Why you little-" it took every ounce of self-restraint along with Remus's glare to stop Sirius from pouncing the boy.
The Malfoy boy snickered at the remark and Sirius's enraged face.
"What's so funny Malfoy? I don't suppose you would want to fight after class with me would you?" Sirius threatened.
The boy immediately backed down seemingly not wanting to have anything to do with Sirius physically.
The Professeur cleared his throat and everyone's attention was shifted to him. Katarina recognized him immediately, it was Professor Slughorn. Luckily for Katarina, she was prepared for this class after all she was ahead of the class by a couple of months.
"Today we will be discussing an important ingredient for many potions, moonstone," Katarina looked over to see Remus already taking notes while Sirius and the black-haired boy continued to have their stare-off.
"Moonstone is used in several love potions as well as a potion we will be brewing today, the Draught of Peace," Slughorn explained.
"Behind Mr.Longbottom, you will find the ingredients and tools needed to brew the potion. The person with the best potion by the end of the class will get a jar of my finest candied pineapples".
No one was interested in the prize but the spot for the best potions brewer in the class was a competition for certain students. It was certain that Lily, Remus, and the greasy-haired boy were all aiming for that coveted title. Of course, it was very useful for Katarina to get onto Slughorn's side. She found that during all five years at Hogwarts Slughorn was extremely lenient and often allowed certain students access to the restricted section of the library. With access there Katarina could find more useful books, of course, she could simply sneak in but it was far easier to simply have access. With that in mind, Katarina was determined to brew the best potion.
Luckily for Katarina, she had brewed the potion several times before in preparation for her O.W.L.S. The potion took immense concentration, a single mistake could be detrimental as to put the drinker into a deep slumber possibly forever.

Katarina added the last 7 drops of hellebore to her potion as it emitted a silver vapor. Sighing in relief Katarina scans the other students. Several students failed in creating the potion while some came close the winner was certainly between Katarina, Lily, or the greasy-haired boy. Remus's potion had failed due to a certain Black sneaking a peek at his potion and accidentally dropping one too many drops of hellebore.
It was then that Slughorn went around the class assessing the potions. At some, he looked away with a disappointed look but as he reached Lily's table he was astounded.
"Miss Evans this potion is outstanding, surely one drop of this would put the entire class in a state of tranquility," He chuckled as he came towards Katarina's table. First, he had assessed the greasy-haired boy.
"Well done Severus, I never cease to be amazed at your potion brewing skills. I do say you might be coming for my job soon," Slughorn laughed at his own joke as Severus looked proud.
"My word Miss-" Slughorn approached.
"Miller," Katarina finished.
"I've never seen such a perfected Draught of Peace," Slughorn looked astounded.
"It is evident and I confidently declare Miss Miller's potion be of top-notch quality in this class," Katarina smiled as she gained Slughorn's approval. Nevertheless, she took the candied pineapples despite being allergic to the fruit as to not be rude.
"Watch out Severus, someone might be coming for your spot," Slughorn patted the boy on the back.
Severus looked as if he was about to burst. He glared at Katarina as he held his wand tightly looking as though he was about the snap it in half. Katarina felt a bit of guilt as the potion she brew did not simply come from her 'brilliant' mind. She had gotten the recipe and directions of how to brew a better potion from Teddy. She hadn't the simplest clue of where Teddy had gotten his hands on such a thing but all she knows is the recipe was a godsend.
The name Severus had been familiar to Katarina as it was James's brother's middle name. If the boy was named after the greasy-haired man Katarina heavily doubted as the current James she saw in front of her eyes was glaring at Severus with eyes filled with hatred.
