luke sat in michael's arms for about five minutes, but to him it felt like forever.
he was catching feelings for michael. fast. and he didn't mind, because it seemed like michael was too.
"i'm going to go tell my mum we have different plans." michael told luke, pressing a kiss to his head.
"okay." luke smiled as he slid off michael's lap onto the bed.
as michael walked out of his bedroom to find his mother, luke pulled out his phone to text his own.

a lot of people would say liz was "too overprotective" over luke, and tell her to "let up" on him because he's "not a baby anymore". yes, she was protective. luke was her only child. she had almost lost him before, and she wasn't about to again. luke was her baby. to her, luke could be forty, and he would still be her baby. liz loved her little boy more than she loved herself. luke didn't mind that liz was so protective, and she wasn't going to let up anytime soon. if you were liz, and you knew the things that happened to luke, you'd never let him out of your sight. what happened to him ruined him. no child should go through it. ever. luke wanted to tell michael what it was, but he just couldn't. it made him panic just thinking about it.
"michael will find out sooner or later." luke thought.
michael re-entered the room with a smile.
"where do you want to eat?" he asked luke.
luke smiled. "i don't know, you pick."
michael sighed, "i don't care. it's up to you. i have money, so don't worry about the price. and, yes, i'm paying for you." he laughed.
luke giggled. "olive garden?" he asked.
"fine with me. let's go." he said.
"let me text my mum, and let her know where i'll be. is that okay?" luke asked, shyly.
michael was confused as to why luke felt like he needed to ask if he could text his mum. "yes, honey, of course you can. you don't need to ask. why did you?" he asked.
"i-i don't know. i'm sorry." luke said.
"you can be yourself around me. don't worry." michael said, with a warm smile.
"o-okay, mikey." luke said, showing his perfectly straight teeth with the smile michael was beginning to fall for.

the two boys walked out of michael's house into the garage, going to michael's car. as michael opened the door for luke, luke smiled.
"you don't have to do that for me." luke said.
"i want to." michael replied.
luke giggled and got in the car. as michael got into the driver's seat, he looked at luke. "you have the cutest laugh" he said, smiling.
luke giggled again. "thank you. i don't usually laugh much, though." he said.
"why not? you have a beautiful smile and an adorable laugh. i wish you were happy all the time. you deserve it." michael said while pulling out of his driveway.
"i guess i just.. don't have much to be happy about." luke sighed.
"maybe i can change that." michael said softly.
"yeah. maybe you can." luke smiled.
