"what?" liz asked, surprised at what just came out of luke's mouth.

"i said i'll go." luke said sternly.

liz was honestly very, very
surprised. she knew her son, she knew how stubborn he was. he would fight her when it came to doing something he didn't want to do.

"so that's it? you're not going to fight me on this?" she asked him, still not believing he was actually agreeing to treatment.

"not unless you want me to." luke told her.

"it's just.. you're usually so stubborn, i was expecting more of a protest." she told him.

"i want this. i want help. i need it, i know i do." luke admitted.

liz gave her son a small smile, because she was happy at the thought of getting her baby back.

"oh, and you were wrong, cutting isn't the only thing that makes me feel better." luke said, laying back into the pillow.

"what is it then?" she asked.

"michael." luke said.

"angel.." she began before luke cut her off.

"no, i love him. we can work this out, i know we can." luke told her.

"luke, he hit you." liz reminded him.

"i know, but i don't think he'd do it again. i just need to talk to him." luke said.

"okay. i have no say in this, since you won't listen to me. you need to learn from your own mistakes." liz replied.

"i love you, mum." luke said, laying his head on her shoulder.

"i love you too." she said, kissing his forehead.

luke loved michael. michael loved luke. they were both sure of that. but michael wasn't sure if he could be around luke, it was too dangerous. luke was too innocent, too fragile. and michael had already hit him, what if that happened again? it's not like luke was a tough guy who would fight back. plus, he didn't deserve it, michael thought.

"he doesn't deserve me." he thought.

calum had told him to just let luke go, because michael had been treating him like shit lately and luke deserved better. maybe calum was right. although michael did love luke, more than anything, actually- maybe he should just let him go.

"he'll find someone better." michael thought.

"he'll be happier."

oh, how wrong you are, michael.

unbeknownst to michael, luke couldn't fucking live without him.

but he was about to find that out.

in the worst way possible.
