michael and luke walked outside into the garage to michael's car, michael, of course, opening the door for luke. michael got in the driver's seat, turned the car on, and handed his phone to luke.

"put your address in, angel." michael said, putting the car in drive.

luke felt his cheeks redden.

"o-okay." he said, typing his address into michael's iphone.

he set the phone in the small compartment on the dash, and siri began speaking the directions as michael pulled out of his driveway.

"my house is actually only seven minutes from yours." luke told him.

"really? awesome. i'm glad we live so close." michael said, smiling. "i'm really sorry that i didn't talk to you much before. i really regret that."

"it's okay." luke said, putting a hand on michael's shoulder. "not many people like me."

"i know, and it's not fair. luke, you're absolutely amazing. i wish other people could see that." michael said.

"they can't, mikey." luke said. "they can't. they'll never be able to."

"why do you say that?" he asked.

"because i'm me." luke said, sadly.

"and?" michael asked him.

"i'm not that great." luke said.

"don't worry. i'll change your mind." michael said, pulling into luke's driveway.

it was a nice house, a pretty, white, two-story home. the neighborhood reminded michael a lot of his own. the houses were slightly smaller, but they didn't look cheap. but honestly, michael didn't care what luke lived in at this point. he just wanted the boy. they knew it was too soon to make things "official", but ultimately, that's what they both wanted. michael wanted to be luke's, and luke wanted to be michael's. there was no doubt, they were going to end up together, but they also wanted to take things slow. michael, however, was impatient. but god, he liked luke.

"we're here." michael said, turning off the car.

he unbuckled his seatbelt, got out of the car, and made his way over to the passenger's side, opening luke's door.

"thank you, mikey." luke said, blushing.

"not a problem, angel." michael said. "you're so cute when you blush."

luke giggled, walking up to his front door with michael at his side.

he opened the door to be greeted to a hug from his smiling mother.

"hi baby! i missed you. did you have fun? i was about to call you to tell you to come home to take your medicine." liz told her son, kissing him on the cheek.

"i did have fun. and this is michael." luke introduced the older boy, smiling.

"hi michael! i'm liz." she introduced herself. "ashton told me a lot about you. i like you a lot already."

michael laughed. "that's awesome!" he said.

"make yourself at home, honey. and luke, take your medicine. have you boys eaten?" she asked.

"yes ma'am, we have." michael told her.

"okay, just let me know if you need anything!" she said.

"will do, mum." luke said. "mum, i need my pill."

"i'll go get it." she said. "i'll be right back."

"michael and i will be in my room." luke said, walking upstairs as michael followed.

liz kept any, and all, medications hidden from luke. after four suicide attempts, she couldn't trust him. she didn't want to lose her baby.

"mum keeps all medications hidden from me. if i'm sick or i have a headache or something, she has to give me the medicine for it and she has to watch me take it, to make sure i don't hide it in a pile somewhere until i have enough to try and overdose again." luke said, sitting on his bed. "i don't blame her, i know she loves me. people say she's too protective, but i don't think she is. she's just trying to keep me safe. i am her only kid."

"i understand a hundred percent, luke. i told you i'll never judge you." michael said, sitting next to luke. "hey, can i take a shower? i just realized i didn't take one yesterday, and i'm starting to feel kind of gross." michael asked, looking at luke's bathroom.

luke laughed. "go ahead. towels are in the closet in the bathroom. the shower's easy to work, too. i'll bring you some of my clothes." he said. "i need to take one too, i'll take one after."

"okay, lukey. thank you." michael said, kissing luke's lips and heading into the bathroom, closing the door.

liz came in luke's room, grey and white capsule in one hand and a bottle of pepsi in the other.

"open up, babe." she told luke.

he opened his mouth as he was told, his mother placing the pill inside. luke took a sip of the drink and swallowed, opening his mouth back up as she checked to make sure he took it. same old routine.

"mum? can i tell you something?" luke asked.

"sure honey, you can tell me anything." she said, sitting next to her son.

"i like michael. like like him. he likes me, too." luke admitted.

"that's great, luke. i'm so happy for you! and i'm also so proud of you for telling me." she said, pulling luke into a hug.

"you're not mad?" luke asked. "and you don't hate me?"

"love sees no gender. and i could never hate you. i love you more than anything, luke. you're my world and you know that. i want you to be happy." she said, placing a kiss on luke's head.

"i love you too, mum. thank you for being so supportive. and for not giving up on me." luke said.

"it's my job." she told him, holding her son tight.
