"Oi, Whiskers!" Sirius had spotted the curly-haired witch standing in front of Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor.
He walked up to her and pulled her into a tight hug.
"Missed you too." She embraced him. "Now let go of me you Mutt!"
Sirius giggled and released his captive. He looked her up and down and saw that she had changed little over the summer break. She might have grown a bit taller, but defenitely not much. Her hair was partially pinned up and gave her a very put-together look.
"You look good." He commented.
Lyra curtsied.
"Why thank you, kind sir." She laughed.
Sirius had missed her laugh. He hadn't seen her since the beginning of the break. Her parents had insisted she stayed at home and prepared for her N.E.W.T. courses she would be taking that year. Unfortunately, he did think that her parents had tried to keep him away from her. He looked at her and noticed her sun-kissed face, decorated with freckles.
"The sun has been good for you." Sirius said.
He was pleasantly surprised that she had left the house at all during the break.
"I studied outside." Lyra replied.
When Sirius had first spotted her, he noticed her longingly looking at the Ice Cream Parlor.
"Would you like some ice cream?" He asked his friend.
"No, no thank you." Lyra replied hastily.
Sirius noticed the panicked look in her eyes. He made a mental note to make sure she would be eating well during the school year.
"Well then, where should we go first?" Lyra asked.
"I think we should go to Flourish and Blotts last, so we don't have to carry all those books around." Sirius thought aloud.
"Oh crap!"Sirius facepalmed. "I forgot the supplies list. Did you bring it?"
Lyra swiftly pulled a piece of paper from her pocket and waved it in front of Sirius' face.
"Of course." She winked.
Sirius had caught a whim of her perfume when she had waved her hand in front of his face. It was a deep forest-like scent. Not what he had expected. Whenever he walked past his mother at Grimmauld Place, he felt suffocated by the strong stench of sugar and flowers. Lyra's perfume fit her very well and he was pleasantly surprised.
"Do you want to go to Quality Quidditch Supplies?" Lyra suggested.
"Yes! I've been dying to get some new gloves. My old ones have lost their grip." He smiled broadly.
Lyra couldn't help but copy his smile, affected by his enthusiasm.
They started walking further into Diagon Alley, sometimes slowing down to look inside the shops they walked past.
When they reached Quality Quidditch Supplies, they saw a familiar face inside.
Sirius opened the door and held it open for Lyra, who thanked him with a smile and a quick nod.
"Fancy seeing you here Moony." Lyra smiled at him.
The boy turned around and looked at the duo. His mother stood beside him with a tired smile on her face.
They walked up to them.
"How are you, Remus? Has the moon been kind to you lately?" Sirius asked.
