I look up at the man I bumped into. "You okay?" he asks. I nod feeling slightly confused. He has white hair with a black undercut. Stone-face.
"As I noticed, neither you or I transformed. Are you the red panda?" he asks.
"Yes, I'm Kazuki Kusaka and who might you be?"
He takes a dramatic bow and states, "I, am Hatsuharu Sohma. The wielder of the ox spirit. Pleasure to meet you." I bow in response. "I've heard great things. Now, if you will excuse me, I must be off." Hatsuharu grabs a red bicycle and sits on it, getting ready to leave. He fluffs his coat and puts on his goggles.
I laugh, "Where are you headed?"
"Well, since you asked, I am looking for an cat. He didn't show up at New Year's so I'm off to find him to beat him up."
BEAT HIM UP?
"Maybe I can help. What does he look like?" I ask cautiously.
"Orange hair, reminds me of carrots."
Hair? Wouldn't one call it fur?
"Well, sorry, I haven't seen any orange cats on my way here. I hope you find him."
"Thank you for trying, miss Kusaka. Well, I'm off." he salutes me and pedals his bicycle.
I walk further into the estate and spot Itsuki walking on the pavement. I run to him and tug on his shoulder.
"Itsuki! Good morning!"
"Wah! Zuki-chan, good morning," he giggles and smiles.
We walk towards the house and spot someone standing in front of the gate with boxes near him. Golden-brown hair tied in a lower half ponytail. Fringe clipped back in pink and white hair accessories with a few strands of hair hanging in their face. White turtleneck sweater and scarf, black jacket. Black jeans and combat boots. "Ritsu, good morning!" Itsuki says. That's Ritsu?
"Itsuki? What are you doing here? It's been too long since I've seen you! I-I should've kept in touch with you, I'm so sorry," Ritsu panics.
"Ah, don't worry about it Ritsu. It's my fault I didn't show up on New Year's. I came to help unpack. Why are you standing here?"
"Oh, I just got here with my stuff. I was waiting for Kazuki as I couldn't get in the house," his eyes pan toward me. Oh right, I have the key since I locked up last night.
I unlock the gate, then the front door. The two men start carrying Ritsu's assets into the house. I walk out and pick up something to bring inside as well. "Why aren't you wearing your kimono today?" Itsuki asks Ritsu. It's freezing outside, Itsuki!
"Mom said it would get in the way today. She complained yesterday how my kimono and socks came home all dirty. Besides, it's too cold for a kimono right now."
I cut in, "Ritsu, why do you wear a kimono?" I place the item in the house and walk outside to grab more.
"I started wearing more feminine clothing when I younger. It makes me feel more confident. Sorry if you find it weird," he answers.
"Do you buy those clothes yourself?"
"Sometimes, but when I do, the cashier always asks if I'm buying for someone special. Then I end up panicking and apologizing," he chuckles, "I also sometimes borrow clothes from another zodiac member, Kagura. This turtleneck is hers. I plan to give it back soon, don't worry."
We finish loading all the assets into the house and take off our shoes. We plop ourselves onto the wooden floor since there wasn't a couch yet. Our stomachs rumble in unison. We all burst out laughing. "I'll get us some food," says Itsuki and gets up to leave.
"We should probably clean this place too," I sneeze and sniff.
"I should ask the neighbours if we can borrow their vacuum and brooms. I'm sorry. I should've thought of it sooner. I'll go now," Ritsu suggests and gets up.
"I guess I'll stay here then," I say. What else would I do anyway?
