After Itsuki and Ritsu left, I decided to do a bit of online shopping on my phone. I scroll through the app and add a whole bunch of things to my wishlist. Shoes, a fox plush, stationary, more fox plush toys and... an old vase?
No, it can't be. I zoom in on the patterns carved in red. That's dad's vase... But it couldn't possibly be the one he made. Mum still has it at home.
I swipe on the photo of the vase and see a ressa-panda carved on the bottom of the vase. I click my tongue. Tch, I can't believe mum had the audacity to sell it. I'm buying it back.
I scroll down to purchase it. But to my dismay, it had already been sold. I scroll through my contacts to call my mother.
kin-kon
"Ugh!" I scream in frustration. I kick a box nearby and get up to answer the door. I shove the door open and look up at the tall man in front of me. A literal tree.
A handsome one too, if I may add. Slim body and face structure, and lavender eyes. Black hair, half sleeked back, other half covering his left eye.
He looks down at me, stone-faced. Shigure pops out from behind him. "Yo, Kazu-chan! Thought I might stop by for a bit, hehe. Hope we're not intruding or anything like that."
"No, not at all," I say moving aside, gesturing for them to come inside.
"It's alright, miss Kusaka. We won't stay long. I just wanted to introduce myself," the tree states.
"Kazu-chan, this is Hatori Sohma," Shigure says as if introducing some royal prince, "He's one of the zodiac members and also the family doctor. Wanna guess which zodiac he is? Hehe."
Hatori glares at him, "I'm not going through that again. I'm the dragon zodiac amd that's all you need to know on that subject. If Shigure didn't lie to me, you must be the red panda."
"Yes I am," I assure him. I spot Ritsu jogging to the gate, hugging brooms to his chest. He trips and falls, dropping everything.
Clack-clack
The noise makes Hatori and Shigure turn around as I snicker.
"Ah, I give up! I wanna go home~ Oh wait, this is my house. Ah~!" Ritsu cries.
I try not to cry out of laughter. "Ritsu are you okay? Do you need help?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry. I'll just uh, take these brooms inside. The madame across the road said we could use their vacuum. I'll need help carrying that, please." He gathers the brooms and walks past the two men in front of our door, "Hello, Shigure and Hatori."
He pauses and panics, "Oh my g-! I was too focused on myself to notice my own family! I deeply apologize! A thousand apologies!"
Ritsu bows while still hugging the brooms, "Never mind I'll get the vacuum myself, Kazuki. I see you guys are quite busy right now, sorry. I-I'll go now."
Ritsu walks to the gate with the brooms still in hand. He pauses, falls on his knees and cries, "I forgot to put down the brooms~! I'm so useless~! Someone just end me now!"
Tears roll down me cheeks as I lick my lips, trying not to laugh.
"Well, we'll take our leave then. You people have the entire house to clean," Hatori says and hands me a business card. He walks to the gate and Shigure follows, hands in his kimono sleeves.. "If you seek medical attention, feel free to call. Only during business hours though."
Hatori pats Ritsu's head and walks into the roads. Shigure pauses in his steps outside the gate. He turns his head, smirks, then continues to follow Hatori.
Itsuki then enters the scene with a disgusted expression. Shopping bags in both hands. He sees Ritsu on the ground. He looks up at me and says,
"Would you like to explain what happened, Kazuki?"
as if I had done something wrong.
