"Let's meet up," I said over the phone.
Silence.
"What time, and where?" I already had a place in mind. "The burger place on the corner, it's the closest to UA. Just send Toga. And tell her to not kill anyone. I'll be suspected if she makes a scene."
"Okay." I wanted to say it but I couldn't. "I love you, dad. See you soon."
Beep
Beep
Beep
I sat on the floor, letting the phone fall out of my hand. What was I doing? Would I be able to do this?
I grabbed my phone. My lock screen, a picture of Bakugo, Angel, and me. I chuckled. Bakugo being dramatic, Angel a soft smile on their face. Both side to side, while I was in front taking the picture. I've never seen myself like this, a huge smile on my face. I remembered the day we took this picture.
We accompanied Bakugo on patrol. I begged Angel to let me go; I was always stuck inside, I wanted to go out. In the end they let me and they came with us. We played around, messed with each other, dealt with muggers, and so many more fun things. I was truly happy that day.
Something fell on the screen. Water? I touched my face. I quickly wiped off the tears.
I unlocked the phone, heading to my messages. I clicked on Angel's contact.
-Hey. You awake? They probably weren't. I threw my phone on the bed.
I could always just text Baku.
My phone lit up, I jumped on the bed stomach first. So they were awake.
- I am now. Is something wrong?
- No, I was just wondering if you wanted to go up to the roof with me?
- Y/n it's midnight.
- So? You answered. You have no other choice but to come with me."
No answer. Fine then, I'll just go by myself.
I put on my coat and shoes. It was probably cold outside. I took off my skirt and put on some pants. Ah, this was much better. I put my hair in a ponytail, semi brushing it with my fingers. Once I was ready, I grabbed my phone and headed outside.
I heard someone open a door. I looked in that direction. Angel was walking out. They were wearing a hoodie, some sweats, and slippers. I have never seen Angel like this. Normally they looked formal, very well dressed.
Something was missing. I just couldn't put my finger on it.
They turned over to me. Then I saw it.
"Where are your wings!?" How could I have missed that!? They didn't have their wings. I walked up to them and turned them around. Their back was empty. Not one feather in sight.
"What are you doing?" I looked at them, they weren't one bit confused. Was I seeing things? "What happened to your wings?" I was still trying to desperately search for them. There was nothing. "Y/n, how do you think I sleep? I'm not a bird." They laughed. "I don't know. I just always thought Hawks slept on his feet. Like an actual bird!" "No y/n, why would we sleep like that? That doesn't even make sense."
"Where are they then?" Did they just disappear during the night? No, that couldn't be it. They had their wings every time we came home late.
"Look." They went over to open their door. I looked inside, a vast pile of feathers was piled up in the room's corner. "Oh."
Well, now I felt stupid. "Now that I realize it, how do you put on your uniform with wings?"
